The Mega-Combo Wrench by LightSource
on: November 16, 2009, 08:15:57 PM
I'm a big fan of one piece tools. I just don't have the budget to back it up. Here is my first one piece, the Mega-Combo Wrench by Lightsource. http://www.thelightsource.com/products/9/view

(Beside a Waiter for size comparison)

It is about as wide as 3 Waiters stacked on top of each other and nearly as long as a single Waiter. It is *very* solid. Made from aircraft grade aluminum this thing weighs in at 1.4oz. It is light, tough, and very limited.

I've had mine for around six years or so and carried it all through college. I did theater and having a tool with me that fit all the various spotlights bolts was handy. Since I am now in the boring real world with a real job and don't do theater anymore, I do not carry it. It is big, bulky, and extremely focused...it doesn't even have a proper bottle opener on it!

However, when used for it intended purpose of adjusting theater spotlights it shines. I bought mine for twelve dollars and certainly don't regret it. I just can't justify carrying it any longer nor recommending it to many people.

(Also, my camera apparently sucks...I blame the wife for hiding the good camera)

We have them at my school, and I don't like them at all. They never seemed to fit where I needed them.

More importantly, how the hell did you make it through college without a bottle opener?

Leave the dents as they are- let your belongings show their scars as proudly as you do yours.

Well, other than having one on almost each of my knives and all of my multitools, I've only used my bottle openers for opening the random bottled soda or alcoholic beverage for my parents. :P

Oh yes, I know the Mega Combo very, very well. I talked about it here: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,5850.msg103089.html#msg103089

How many theatre/entertainment tech's do we have on this board anyway?

Fun story. I found a dedicated bottle opener in a Go-Mart parking lot my first week of college. It's been on my keychain ever since. Still works great too! (Hey, does that count as a one piece tool?)
