leatherman bit kits
on: December 07, 2009, 08:10:14 PM
how good are the phillips bits you can get?

im in doubt of them at the moment as there so narrow ( more like a slotted head screw driver)

so what im trying to say is, is the bit kit worth getting and will they work  ??? :D

Dunno. But I do know the Phillips in my skeletool is made of awesome. So having more bits must be a good thing!

They still have the other 2 slots in them, not just a flat head, so it gives you that added grip in the phillips. It is also pointed, so it goes all the way into the screw. I have done a ton of work with my bit kit, and have yet to strip a screw or a bit. Works wonderfully :tu:

Go with a multi bit screwdriver like the PB Swisstools Insider. You can't beat real bits.

Yeah, the Leatherman bit kits are good.  You should grab one if you can.

I use mine quite a lot - they are slim and easy to carry and I recommend them too  :tu:

The day I bought my bit kit I went to help a friend w/some land clearing.  Pulled the chord out of the chainsaw I'd borrowed from my dad and fixed it w/the bitkit.  Paid for itself on day one.  Everything else is bonus ;)

I've been thinking about a Universal Tool Adapter (Would Work on my SwissTool as well), the Leatherman bit driver extension (I get to choose the bits I want) and the PB Swisstools Insider. I'm ready for some good ol', Multitool.org ,opinions. I have a Surge as my only LM tool, but have a SwissTool Spirit and a Swisstool RS.

The UTA is an ingenious contraption and works quite well. It's only problem imho is that it is quite bulky with the carrying case and bits. I do have one but <shameless plug> it's gone on the FS/T heap </shameless plug> as it always ends up being left at home. If you already EDC the Surge I'd suggest getting the LM bit kit and driver extension first to see if that fits your needs.

If you were not in Greece, you would be hearing from me about your UTA. But, given all the international shipping issues, I'll be conservative and hit Ebay if I decide to go that way.
