My first sheath (Rambo IV mod)

Dudes and dudesses,

For your pictorial delight I present the first sheath I have ever made (be nice to me, please)

I purchased the Blade from my old mate Scrappy (thanks dude) but was not impressed with the mass produced sheath.  I wanted a belt loop and dangler option.  I wanted a horizontal carry option, and I wanted a way to carry extra kit on the sheath.

So this is what I came up with.

The horizontal belt loops (that can be removed as they are only attached by 2 Sam Brown studs) can also carry any kind of sheath you can think of)

The stitching on the back is a bit ropey, but I am very pleased with how the front turned out.

This thing is a beast, I can carry it in 3 different ways, and can attach all sorts of goodies.  My next creation will be a matching Possibles pouch.

I have the leatherwork bug pretty bad at the moment.

Please let me know your thoughts, good or bad  >:D

Thanks,

Nick

I will also be re handing the blade with some brown suede for extra grip and then putting another Sam brown stud strap onto the handle area for extra retention.....not that its needed as fortuitously the fit is perfect friction  :tu:

Very nice... I was going to ask how retention was without a strap.  I prefer kydex sheaths, but that leather one is very nice work.  I assume the bottom eye is for a makeshift drop leg option?

Yep, its for a leg tie (brown leather cordage).

Thanks for the kind words all.

As I made it I took photos on my iPhone, so when I figure out how to post those I will do a kind of tutorial if enough people want it.

In order to keep things balanced as well as to ensure you take my latter comment seriously I'll agree that the stitching on the back doesn't look too hot.  I'd be seriously tempted to redo it.  Why, because the rest of it looks bloody brilliant and it would be a real shame to have that little bit on the back distract from what is a superb looking sheaf.   :salute:

If that's your first attempt Nick then I really can't wait to see what you'll be knocking out down the line.  By the way I have a great big bill hook that needs a home making for it, perhaps we could have a chat in the new year ;)

I really like the look of the knife as well :tu:

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

The reverse stitching is a done deal....the holes are there and thats where they will stay.

In any case I want to remember where I went wrong and how I can fix it in the future.

For all the people requesting sheaths......well give me a bit of time to get better and dcomplete some of my sheaths and then I may be taking requests....

Thanks all,

nick
