Maxpedition Falcon II
on: December 09, 2009, 06:51:17 AM
Does anyone own/use this pack?  I've been thinking of picking one up in Foliage Green if I see one on sale out there.  The reviews I've read lean heavily towards great reviews but I figured I'd ask here and get some info.

I don't like the shape of the Condor, the Pygmy Falcon looks small, and the Vulture is too big.

I've only got the Pygmy Falcon, but I can't recommend that enough :)

So if bigger really is better, then it'll be a safe bet mate :tu:
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I had one for a bit and it was ok, it depends what you want to carry in it really. It needs some sort of organisation in the main compartments, and a framesheet too. Fill it up and it sticks out from your back a fair way, don't and the weight of all your cra... umm, stuff in the front admin pockets causes it to ride in some strange ways. Oh, and the PALS grid is pretty much useless for adding any pouches worth a damn.

Having said that, it's a comfy bag and mine was well made, although it was an older one (I've been less than impressed with MaxP's build quality lately).

I am getting the  Pygmy for Christmas for Liam's diaper bag.  It is much bigger than it looks.  I added to rolly polly's to mine and I feel I can easily carry everything Liam needs on a daily basis and still have room leftover.

I Love my pygmy too so I'm sure the larger one is worth having. It is quite roomy so it might suit you if you're not carrying loads.

Still haven't figured out what pouches I can attach to mine yet though

I'm going to order two Rolly Poly pouches from Marc (www.edcdepot.com)  along with the Falcon II once some money drops into my paypal, those look really useful.  I can reccoment the Cocoon pouches from first hand experience, very versatile and east to put stuff in and take stuff out.  Perfect for putting stuff in a ziplock baggie (for water resistence), rolling it up and putting it in a Coccoon.

The rolly poly's are great.  I use them as dump punch for batteries on photo shoots, and as soiled clothes carriers in Liam's diaper bag.  However, I do wrap the clothes in a grocery bag before I put them in there.  The grocery bag also stores in the roly poly.

Well I decided to make the pygmy the car BOB, and use the Typhoon I got from GG as the diaper bag. I am liking it so far, everything fits in nicely and it carries very well.
