Anyone else an incidental watch collector?
on: December 17, 2009, 12:37:43 PM
I always wear a watch. It has gotten to the point that if I walk out my front door without one, I feel naked. Even worse, I will keep looking at my empty wrist for the rest of the day.  :bnghd:

I am also a bit of a hoarder when it comes to several things, SAKs, MTs, and Watches. I never throw away a good time piece. I still have watches from when I was a little tadpole.

A few months ago, I started to gather my watches in one area. I had some stored upstairs, downstairs, all over the house. Some of these I haven't worn in years, and the batteries have died out in them. I even went through a pocket watch phase during High School. I was a bit surprised at just how many watches I owned. I had never gathered them in one spot before. I do have my favorites, as I mostly now rotate amongst 5 watches now.

Post your collection, be it incidental or not. :D

I feel the same way, even thou I'm not a collector, and I have time on my cellphone and pretty much everywhere I go has a clock. Weird eh?

Only have 4 of them thou, including one crap automatic from dealextreme. Actually make that 3, couldn't find my 10 year old timex anywhere, it was my outdoor watch so I have none for that purpose now.

Still looking for my ideal watch (within my price range obviously), tritium marking, titanium casing/band, sapphire window, 2016 or 2032 power.

I only have a couple, but I don't feel right without one.  I don't really look at them as something I want to collect, mainly due to the price, but I do enjoy a well-made watch.

I've considered getting an automatic in the past, but I can't justify the costs (purchase and maintenance) involved when I can get a powered watch that is more accurate.

Seems I have a small collection going at the moment.  I have a Citizen Chrono, Wenger (don't know the model), Victorinox Infantry, and a Luminox Evo (lime green on black).  I have a few more on my list as well, but no cash ATM.

I have to admit, I stopped wearing a watch soon after I started carrying a mobile phone with me everywhere.  The is an old saying, "A man with a watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure."

Thank God I don't collect watches since the watches I really want is in the price range of about 10 000$. But I do know what you are talking about when leaving the house without one on my wrist and feeling naked.

I have one watch that means a lot to me since it was a Christmas gift from my grandfather on the last Christmas we spent together and I can remember that he wore this watch every day.

Not incidental, but I am slowly building a collection. A little over a year ago I was ready for a new watch as the single one I had was getting a bit worn out and wound up buying two. A Timex Expedition Chronograph and a Maratac AQC....

And just in the past two weeks I added another three to the collection......

Invicta 9110 Pro Diver Automatic:

Orient Blue Mako Automatic:

Invicta 6335 Pro Diver GMT Quartz:

And the wife apparently got me a watch for X-mas, although she is not saying exactly what except that it's a Diver model!  :tu:

I've got the watch-bug now and I'm eyeing a few more but not sure what I will get next. And I have always got a watch on my wrist, since middle school I've been a watch wearer. I feel naked without one as well.

I got a couple more this Christmas to add to the collection.

The wife got me this one........

Invicta 6068 Pro Diver:

It has a 43mm stainless case with undirectional bezel topped by a Flame Fusion crystal. See through case back with a 21 Jewel Japanese automatic movement, a real nice watch. I've been wearing it for the past few days.

Then I kind of splurged on myself and got me this one which arrived Christmas Eve..........

Wenger 72349 Battalion Diver Titanium:

The case is 42mm and made of Titanium, as is the case back. The bezel is unidirectional and topped with a Mineral Crystal lens. The crown is a screw-down type and it adjusts the Swiss Quartz movement inside. A simple smooth rubber dive band rounds it out. Got this one for a steal from Jomadeals.com, they had these on a daily deal special for under $100!!!

I'm thinking on this one I might swap out the band for something else, a NATO maybe. Or possibly a Zulu 4-ring, not sure yet.
