I saw a part of it on The Soup, and bear peed into a canteen, then he put a tube in the canteen and put the tube where the sun don't shine.

Soooo, what on earth was he doing ???

Just another weirdo with a beard :B:

There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

From what I gather from a thread on Bladeforums, he was rehydrating himself with dirty water using his colon instead of going through his digestive system.

I don't remember reading that it was his urine though..

That just sounds.....horrible. And ineffective. I mean wouldn't that kinda do the same thing as a colonoscopy where the water kinda washes everything out, but in the process (trying to keep this sorta clean here) your body winds up...purging everything in there. Which then results in dehydration. Kinda counterproductive, but then I still maintain that the guy is an idiot.

He kinda reminds me of a certain unnamed wildlife "expert" that once got up in all the dangerous animals faces just to show he could. Look where that got him.

It's just a matter of time and pushing the right buttons............

No. Big difference. Steve would clearly tell people NOT to do the stupid smurf that he did. And he actually more or less knew what he was doing. And the Sting Ray thing was a freak event.

Bear actually tells people TO do the retarded smurf that he does. He goes around doing some of the dumbest crap imaginable and trys to pass it off as showing people how to survive. Somebody someday is going to be stranded, not know any better, and try some stupid goddamn thing that they saw Bear do in his "survival" show and get needlessly killed in the process. Nobody is stupid enough to go pissing off a Cobra because Steve thought it was a good idea.

To be fair, he did say that it should be done only as a last resort. The logic is pretty sound too.

In theory, it would seem sound yes. But think about what hes doing. I saw a japanese game show where they would squirt a small bulb of water up a contestants ass (only in japan...) and time how long it was before explosive diarrhea ensued. the winner lasted like 30 seconds i think. Think what a full canteen of uriine would do. You crap urself silly all over the place and be way more dehydrated than when you started.

No. Big difference. Steve would clearly tell people NOT to do the stupid Colorful Enunciation that he did. And he actually more or less knew what he was doing. And the Sting Ray thing was a freak event.

That's kind of Pacu's point though, isn't it?

You keep playing with fire and chances are you WILL get burned eventually. I used to like watching Croc Hunter... but sometimes I was utterly flabbergasted by some of the things the producers allowed him to do, like the time he "played" with a black mamba (he could've easily bought it then too).

As for Bear "recycling" his pee pee, yes, the stategy IS sound. Most of the moisture that we ingest gets absorbed in the colon, so his method for rehydration is more or less a shortcut. Also, since (healthy) urine is sterile, there's little chance of ill effects (in the very short term at least).

It is a valid method, people have survived with it where no drinkable water is available.

As far as that japanese show goes, search youtube for japanese game show, they produce the weirdest crap you'll ever seen, and quite a few aren't even allowed on youtube.

Japanese gameshows are great :D
i love this

I watched a lot of this man vs wild lately, most of it seems pretty sound to me. But all that climbing and running in the woods ??? would you guys do that in a survival situation? I wouldn´t
Well, at least one halfway good show on television, im sick of this casting show crap :D

Best wishes
Robert

I guess he would probably wait for a camel to pass by, kill it, skin it, empty it of its internal organs, crawl into the carcass, and then... oh, well, the whole point would be lost anyway, but maybe that's what Bear's survival skills are all about, just like that japanese show: pointless and funny. ;)
