Will leatherman waranty replace my tool given it's age?

I recently got a Super Tool 200 for a ridiculous price and couldn't pass it up.

When it was delivered, upon closer inspection; the plier head was a little loose and the locks are so hard top operate that they could be considered fused! Plus there are some signs of early rust...

I contacted my local Leatherman Warranty Center (which is in FL) and they said to mail it in...just like that...

Since the 200 is discontinued can/will they repair loose plier heads, polish rust off & replace locking mechanisms or will they just change the tool for a Core or a 300?

I just don't want to waste on shipping and wait three weeks just to see what happens.

I think they replace discontinued tools if it's broken, but for service repair I don't think they do anything so drastic. Mind you, I've never sent a tool in for repair, but reading the posts here, I get the impression that tightening up bolts is something where they'd send your original tool back. If the pliers were cracked, they would likely trigger a replacement.

For a ridiculous price, I would certainly take the chance and see what happend..

Just send it to LM, they will take good care of it. Just fill out the warranty submission form, tell them what you want and they will take care of it

Thanx for the link! I didn't know there was such a form...Almost shipped the tool in a box with nothing but a return address.

Ive been on here for a little while now and after all the post's ive read LM sound very good at honoring there grantee, im going to ring monday about my 12 year old wave and see if they cam replace the broken flat head and tighten it up a bit,
