Victorinox Compacts- used- post 2005 and pre 91
on: January 29, 2010, 06:47:50 AM
As the title says I have a post-2005 Compact with the hook with file and straight pin- the mini was missing though:

Sorry my camera isn't the greatest, you'd think for such an expensive camera it would take better pics. The post 05 has a small chip out of the plus scale above the pen slot. Anyway, then here is the pre 91 model with ho hook and a grooved CS, the scissor return spring is broken:

I am willing to ship to the UK, I've found recently that $3.12 gets it there, almost as cheap as domestic shipping ??? Anyway, I am asking $18 for the post 05 and $15 for the pre 91. They are in average shape, but I know the modders will be all over these for the combo tool :P

For $3.12 you don't get tracking. I found that all of my packages have arrived safely to their designated locations overseas so far, but there is no protection for that price

True- I think it's less than a dollar for delivery confirmation? Or is it more for international?

I'm not sure if additional features can be layered on to the base price like with domestic shipping. The next option costs around $10 more (forget what it's called and what it includes). For an item of great value or rarity tracking and insurance is a must, and subject of mutual approval of the buyer and seller.

WHat's the main difference post 2005 and pre91 again?  I was going to use a waiter combo tool for a possible mod (cost less than $10) but II'm not sure if the smaller pin diameter would cause a problem.

I'm basially trying to build  a 3 layer yeoman, tho maybe I'll try to replace the magnifier with an led light...

As Gareth discovered for us, you can in fact use the 84mm combo tool- but you have to drill the pivot hole out to 2.5mm. The nail nick sits lower but is still accessible. And I highly recommend doing the LED version, Neil did a variant like that not too long ago and it was one of the sexiest knives I have ever seen.

The difference between the years is essentially the pre-91 has no hook and a screw in the scissors, and no straight pin hole in the scale.
