gave away my PST today.
on: January 31, 2010, 06:08:49 AM
Went to a birthday party for Marie's uncle's son (cousin-in-law).  He was turning 14 and has been in the scouts for sometime.  I took his dad to the side and asked him if he minded if I gave him a Leatherman.  He didn't have a problem with it, so I handed him my newly acquired PST from Dunc.  Lets face it, I have enough multi's for my lifetime, and have some stashed away for Liam when he gets older.  Hopefully it will be useful to him as he becomes more of a man.  Time will tell.  So, who else here has given someone the tool from their very own pocket on the spot?

I gave my brand new Surge to my father in law. Guy has helped me out numerous times fixing my old and now dead Chevy S-10 (heater core, shocks, alternator, water pump)

it worked out well...i found another Surge at walmart for 30 bucks on clearance soon after :D

Gave my dad my Pulse, Crater, and Vic supertinker'r in my visits.

Nothing on the spot, more like removed from pocket and set aside for the nearest giftable holiday. ;)

Let's see:

Victorinox Cadet, Gardener and OHT, blue Leatherman Squirt P4, and a Gerber Artifact all went to my father
Fenix E01, Victorinox Classic SD, and a red Leatherman Squirt P4 all went to my mum
Leatherman Kick and a Fenix E01 to my grandmum; she wanted an easily deployable knife and multitool... then come to find out she wanted one for self defense    Yeah, no; the Kick will be fine for her arthritis, but SD?  No way. ~_~

Granted, the items above weren't all given at the same time, but through a span of two years.  Of course, the Artifact and all of mum's stuff have gone unused, while the Kick is in the tool drawer at my grandmum's house (I'm guessing she uses it, considering that's what she told my father in which she was interested). *shrugs* :/

Green Climber to a girl at work who wanted a "green one with scissors" she lost hers two weeks later
A Spirit and Juice S2 to my brother
Core lm knife combo to my uncle
A tinker with a bunch of other camping gear to another buddy
All that I can think of at the moment

He didn't say much, he may have thought it was a dumb gift (he's really into video games).  So I don't know if it was the right thing to do or not, but it felt right at the time.

Maybe the next step is if you can spend some time with him, to show him how to use it, and how useful it is.

Quite a while ago gave my dad a SAK champ, split the cost with my brother.

I gave my dad a squirt P4 for his keyring, same time as I got one myself.

Gave my wife a squirt S4 for her keyring.

Going to give a couple of teenage cousins of mine SAK huntsmans, and same for my uncle (also giving him a flashlight).

Going to give my brother in law a vic spirit.

   I forgot some:

Red Cadet, and later a MT.O-stamped Raker Ring Tool to my then-girlfriend
Green Alox Classic SD, Star of David Classic SD, Shamrock Classic SD to a friend for combined birthday/Christmas
Tinker Small to another friend for Christmas (would've been the same to two other friends, but changed my mind)
Autumn Orange Cadet as Dirty Santa gift that ended up going to one of my nephews
Lee Valley Screwdrivers that were stocking stuffers this past Christmas
P-38 can openers were stocking stuffers one Christmas back

Oh, and a US Schrade 3-bladed Stockman (that was for sale on the forum for a day before I pulled it) went to my father, after he told me how he was going to get it for himself, but I got it before I realized... so I told him I'd sold it... at Christmas, I simply told him I'd sold it to myself, and merry Christmas.  :salute:
