My first, true Leatherman Collectable
on: February 06, 2010, 04:06:44 AM
I've been hunting for rare Leatherman tools since well before I joined this forum, and of course, ever since. My collecting though has in the main been limited to used tools and bargains found on ebay (when I could) and through the trade forums on this site.

I've never really been in the position to justify the expense of the real collectable tools though, my indulgences to date having been limited to a Cabela's Legacy PST and some of the widely available anniversary models. I once missed out on a 10th Anniversary gold PST because I didn't have the money  :-\

Thanks to the generosity of a fellow Leatherman enthusiast however, I have managed to land this, which arrived this morning:

This is the first of the real, true Leatherman collectables I've managed to get hold of, and I think it's fair to say that it's "home" now. I shall be mounting on the wall tomorrow, but I'll take a few more pics to share before I do :)

Although it is unlikely that I'll add another of these rarities without being prepared to spend silly money, I am content for now knowing that patience can bring rewards, and at least I have this one to enjoy, regardless of what may or may not happen in the future.

So, now you know why I was dreaming of 333 for the last week too ;)

I used to come here a lot.

Awesome Dave.  :tu: I have one myself.  ;)  It's displayed proudly on my shelf (doesn't come out of the box).  Yeah i wanted the gold tool also, but those are impossible to find.  I'm still looking for one.   :-[

Dave not only a 20th Anniversary Wave but a signed limited edition one   8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8).

Silly question DK , the box it is hinged isn't  , so you can get the tool out if you want.

I would really really love a 10th Anniversary PST , would I be willing too trade my 190 of 200 Al Mar QuickClip for one   :ahhh :D

Silly question DK , the box it is hinged isn't   , so you can get the tool out if you want.

The top panel slides off - you can see in the bottom right corner of the top picture, that it's not fully closed. You slide the right-hand wooden frame section which is attached to the glass.

In this picture, the lid has been removed (you can see the right-hand frame is missing):

The box is extremely well made (in China :D), but the foam insert is not quite so hot! It's the steel bit in the middle that matters though ;)

I used to come here a lot.

Nice skor there Dave!  It's one tool you can leave hang on the living room wall and not offend
anyone or evoke words of "put those tools away."  ;)
