A scaled down EDC ? what would be yours,
on: February 16, 2010, 01:23:49 PM
For me it would be the LM kick with a clip, and my wenger esquire and torch wise the gerber tempo, so on a small scale EDC what would be yours,  :tu:

Since I'm getting on a plane tomorrow for a quick trip (ie no checked bags), my EDC will be Fenix LD01 and Atwood Funnybone.

If the airlines weren't totally F'ed up, I'd add the Alox Rambler.

You need to buy one of these 58mm knife less SAKs. I know it is not the same thing but it still gives that warm SAK fuzzy feeling when i can't carry a knife. :D

I think the US government got it wrong after 911 instead of banning knifes they should have made it mandatory that you carry one on a plane. I don't think their would be anyone trying to hijack a plane with a knife anymore.

Have a good trip buy lots of stuff i love shopping in Oregon no sales tax.

Paul, I used to carry a Kick with a pocket clip and a climber in belt pouch it was a good setup. These days i have been carrying a PST II and a Vic money clip and a Vic Sig on my key chain. I have been liking this setup nice and lite if i need more serious tools i allways have a bag near by with a Swiss Champ and a Core in it.

Pulse, Emerson CQC7, and RA Tac light.  Thats about as scaled down as I get unless I'm getting dressed up or going on an interview.  Then its probably a cadet and micra.

If I were to carry a truly ultra-minimalist setup, it'd include:

Leatherman Squirt P4 (or maybe a Ps4)
Photon II
P-51 can opener
Victorinox quattro driver
handkerchief
writing paper

While if I could splurge and increase what I carry slightly, I'd have:

Leatherman Squirt P4
Victorinox Rambler or Tinker Small (or Explorer Plus without the P4 or other SAK, depending on my needs)
Maratac AAA (or Quark-series light in any battery type)
handkerchief
writing paper
Inka Travel Pen or, preferably, Zebra F-301 Compact

My EDC on my person is minimalist.  I keep additional things in my vehicle which is never too far away.  Most of the time I have a 6" County Comm Aircraft Mechanics Key Ring with the following items attached:

Maratac Polished Stainless Steel AAA Flashlight
Pico Pen
Split Pea Lighter
Dog Tag (with Cell Phone # in place of SSN)
SwissTech Utilikey (I plan on replacing this with the Leatherman Style when it comes out)
Sunshine Mini II Titanium Cash Can (with $50 bill stashed away inside)
House Key

I keep both of our vehicle keys on their own seperate small key ring with a Gizmo Clip so I can add the keys to whichever vehicle I am driving.  I don't have the Aircraft Mechanics Key Ring dangling off the vehicle key while it is in the ignition.  I remove it via the Gizmo clip.

I also usually carry either a Wenger Standard Issue or a Leatherman Freestyle CX, but never both.  And a wallet and a iPhone.

I'm thinking a Squirt P4, Vic Compact and my Fenix L0D would cover me well. :)

I could probably get by on:

Alox classic
Spyderco Dragonfly
Leatherman Skeletool CX
Fenix LOD
Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much!

When I go scaled down, just a Skeletool (or squirt P4 if I can find it again ) and the Fenix LOD. So not much different from my ususal setup with the wave and the bits that go with it in the sheat.

Does my LM c301 count as a scaled down multitool?  I use it to cut boxes, cut food, pry apart LEGO's, and whatever else comes up on the weekend when I carry it.

whatever works for you day to day i guess, for me its mainly the clutch as ive always got it plus the tempo, but if ive got my bag i carry more things i might need, i try and carry a larger MT in my pocket or my wenger commander, changes alot at the moment, today i got a pst so will EDC that with my esquire for a while, the pst actualy fits nice in my back pocket,

I've been thinking about this since the thread started. I have come to the conclusion that a Wenger S557 might make a nice scaled down/1 piece kit...

...But Because I have the "disease" I'll end up with a Wenger Tool Chest or S54.
