Vic v. Leatherman Pliers
on: February 21, 2010, 04:40:01 AM
I've heard people compare leatherman pliers to Vic's swisschamp style pliers.
Idk about you, but I think they are both in completely separate leagues. I for one use LM pliers for tightening bolts and frivalous stuff like bending coat hangers.  Vic pliers are more used for tightening tiny bolts, grabbing things in tight spaces, etc. I use the Vics for grabbers rather than actual pliers.  Both have very different uses, so its kinda like comparing a boxcutter to a machete in my opinion.

Any thoughts on this comparison?

Not sure which Victorinox pliers you mean.  The pliers on the Victorinox Spirit and SwissTool are beefy and can cut hangars, turn hex bolts, break and bend stuff, etc.

Were you writing about the mini pliers on Victorinox Swiss Army Knives instead?

Vic makes great LM style folding pliers.  But I was talking about the SAK pliers as highligthed above :tu:

I agree with you, they're not really the same tool at all.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I would put the SAK pliers on the same level as the ones on The Squirt P4. The pliers on the Juice and full size tools are in another league.

Not sure I have ever read a comment about them being comparable to each other , but I agree they aren't.
I'm back!!
