Of course it varies from country to country.  For instance when sending something to Russia its the norm to use surname first and then first name last.

I make a point of checking local layouts before sending anything to a country I've not posted to before.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

In Serbia, the postal code precedes the city name:
35000 Jagodina

When dealing with addresses on here in a trade I write it exactly how the person have written it.

In Norway it is like this.

Ola Nordman
Notarealstreat 45 B
1234 Oslo
Norway

I use a postage program on my computer and it is interesting that some international addresses are not recognized and have to be altered (re-arranged) a bit in order to complete the shipping postage.

When I used to deal with a lot of high-end figures from Sideshow Collectibles and what not, I always had them write it down and send it to me, as PayPal will sometimes mess it up.

When you are sending multi-thousand dollar figures across the ocean, you want to get the buyer's address right!!

This is true Neil  :tu:

Isn't the correct way in the UK to capitalise the postal town i.e. BELFAST

Also should our postcode always be at the bottom after country as the post office reads from the bottom up?

In the US the country always goes last....the post office lady gave me grief for putting Ireland before the Postal code.

I think (although it's been a long time since I posted anything from outside the UK) that the correct form is to leave a gap between the post code and then write United Kingdom/Scotland/England/Northern Ireland/Wales.  I believe putting the specific country, ie. Wales, will still end up with any letter coming to the UK.

So;

John Doe
12/3 Somewhere Street
Nowhereville
Wessex
AB12 3CD

ENGLAND (or United Kingdom or whatever)

Take it from me, they're not above returning it even with the return address  >:(  I got a package back once with a huge label on it stating it was being returned because the senders details were not visible.... guess where they'd stuck said label.... right on top of the my name and address  :bnghd:   I was not chuffing amused  :viking:
