Who's your cell provider?
on:

I'm on the market for a new phone and provider. I'm currently with AT&T and it seems for a few dollars more with other companies, I can get internet, unlimited texting, even GPS!
Any reccomendations on a good provider, prefferably one that has a month to month type plan? I'm done with TWO YEAR contracts

Most of the time you can get away with not having a contract as long as you do not get one of the "free" phones they offer as long as you sign up for a specified length of contract. Better to pay full price for the phone and not be locked into a contract.

I'm on the now mostly-purchased-by-other-companies Altell network; in fact, their largest remaining store is in my hometown, and still has a large number of customers. o.o;
With that said, I've been debating about eliminating my unlimited text/photo message plan; I miss the peace and quiet I once had, which I no longer have by being available to everyone all the time (yes, I know the Silence feature, but meh); needless to say, deleting the AIM Mobile setup helped, but not quite enough. :/

Verizon for me and the wife. We share 700 mins (all of her family and most of mine are on verizon). I have 500 texts a month, she has unlimited, and I have GPS. Runs us about 110 a month.

AT&T 750 national rollover plan. Unlimited data and text for me and the wifey. $105 per month.
I've been maxed out on rollover minutes for years.

T-mobile. Sidekick plan. Works great for my needs. But then I spend like 5 min a week actually talking on my phone and a gazillion hours texting, IMing, internet, etc. so for the money there was no better plan out there for what I use the phone for.

We're on Orange over here, contracts are 18 months. Although as they keep changing the types of contracts available, you can cancel at any point AFAIK.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Verizon here, four phones at 1200 mins or so with the my family plan and unlimited text. (with the my family which I think is like my circle from altel I never go over 600 mins a month used, too bad there is no rollover LOL)

Verizon. Their phones aren't as whizbang as some other carriers but their network in GENERAL is far superior. I need the reliablity so I go with them.

I am with t-mobile here, not that that helps you being in another country.
whatever you do, if you are going for smartphone, make sure you get a plan that gives you unlimited internet access.
Oh, and I would recommend a phone that runs android, they are the most customizable and feature rich at the moment.
