Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

Why am I getting the impression that South Africa is the place to be for Victorinox products.

That is a very nice knife. One I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing for my small collection.
A little Leatherman information.

As I understand it, this knife (and the other Scout models, there are three) are not available through normal channels like Felinevet, and have to be purchased from a Scout shop.

Why am I getting the impression that South Africa is the place to be for Victorinox products.

If you look closely, you'll see this is a Wenger model.... :D

This is the only link I found, but I bought this one from a local  outdoor shop and the colour on these does not look the same as mine unless its just the photo.

Does a boy scout really need a corkscrew? Seems odd to me. Cool knife though. I like the color.

I know Def. I was making a sly remark on the nice Alox sharp and pointies that nobody else will get to play with.

In 2009, I earned my eagle scout and my scoutmaster bought one of these for each of the boys in my eagle class that year. I still have it to this day, and its my favorite blade. I dont carry it much, but I bring it to every backpacking trip I go on, for good luck, and to remind me of the important lessons I learned as a boy scout, and the timeless values of friendship and service. Its timeless piece. Also, the purple is maybe strange to collectors, but purple is the color for international scouting. All scouts wear a purple square knot on their left side pocket to represent the world scouting movement.

CS is the best way I've found to loosen knots that have set up tight.

PS. I want one of those. Nice find.

Sweet knife!  I've used the cs many times to un knot the undoable knots my 10 year old makes in his shoe laces.  For some reason, nothing else quite works as well.

I really like the main blade that says Wenger. I agree the corkscrew seems out of place. I'm afraid I would never buy one in that color though.
