Gerber Splice

I got myself a Gerber Splice (a bit cheap with a broken screwdriver/bottle opener)

I  knew they were small but its tiny!!!
I could use it as jewellery
Its well made (apart from the broken bit) and the scissor part works by magic
Well I can't find the spring that opens them so it must be some kind of magic!

I like the green ones- unfortunately I only have a black Splice and black Vise.  No big deal though as I value function over form, so I can live with it! 

As a big fan of the Clutch, I was happy to see it get updated in the Splice and Vise, although I'm still not sure how much I like the "High Tech" type looks of it overall since there are a fair number of sharp corners compared to the older models.  I do like the more effective bottle opener, which is a tool that I felt Gerber had always fallen down on.

Better than a squirt?

Oddly enough, I personally never got on all that well with the Squirt models.  The Clutch/Shortcut and Splice/Vise models are somewhat larger than Squirts, so if you are looking at a convenient package, I'd say go with the Squirts.  The Squirts are also riveted together and feel a bit tighter than the Gerber models, but I find the implements are just a bit larger on the Gerbers to make them that much more useful.

I see, sounds interesting. Give me a moment....and the verdict is: no! I promised myself not to get any non-locking tools! I got the P4 and it is very well built indeed but hate the non locking inplements. A folding on your finger driver is not that big of a disaster, a blade is. To me...

But those small Gerbers do look very nice

Yep the corners and edges are a bit rough/sharp
I only got it out of curiosity so I probably won't be carrying it around with me,
If I was I think I would rub it down

As I'm someone who is quite new to this sort of thing I can only say what I think
at the moment and remember that I have nothing to compare to it 

But to me it feels very solidly made, the scissors work very well and the hidden
spring which opens them is surprisingly strong (I still can't find it)
All the tools are quite hard to get out (I think because the springs are so well made)
and the whole thing snaps closed quite nicely
I'm guessing the screwdriver/bottle opener blade is the weak link in this tool as it
is broken in this example?
As I said above there are some harsh edges on this one so its not as nice
 to 'fondle' as it could be
(If I was to 'mod' it I would replace the 8 torx screws with round head torx screws and
 run a file around the edge of the scales but that would ruin the nice colour) 

So overall I do like this little chap

Well... I received my Splice today and I'm very disappointed in the overall quality of the tool. I find the fit and finish to be very poor, but I wasn't expecting too much for what the tool cost. I find the tools very hard to take out and the phillips screwdriver is a joke. The addition of a serrated blade was one thing that I did like about the Splice.    The scissors weren't too bad either. Overall I would say save your $$$ for a Leatherman S4 instead of buying this tool. Needless to say, this will be my last Gerber purchase.

I just received the green Splice, also.

This copy pretty much mirrors what has been posted already.

It is not really a viable candidate to replace the Micra or Squirt. It is not as nice as the SOG Crosscut. It is worth the $13 shipped price that I paid for it. The Splice would be much better if the tools were smoother and easier to get out and the sharp edges were smoothed out. The potential is there to make it a handy micro tool.
