Ah, but you didn't see what I did with the left over bit driver from the XTi yet ;)

I used to come here a lot.

Started the Leatherman Keyman (Micra Mod) craze with these in November 2001.

There's a separate thread for SAK mods - this is the multitool one.

A SAK is a multitool as much as something with pliers ;) Most of the SAK mods are already posted in that thread anyways

Yes, and it's an argument that I can see both sides of.  However this thread was indeed aimed at at mods other than SAKs, they have a very popular thread all of their own. :)

Although he doesn't specify that in the first post, I removed the SAKs since that's what I figure he meant. The thread title should be changed though, because by pure self definition a multitool is something that has "multiple tools". I didn't realize there was a discussion on the topic, to me it's as absurd as discussing whether bottled water is still water.

Absurd talk is what we do here.  Perhaps you are on the wrong forum.  :D

Oh, and SAK's aren't MT's.  :P :ahhh :D

Oh, and SAK's aren't MT's.  :P :ahhh :D

Then how do you classify the following?
Squirt S4
Swisschamp
Buck Xtract
Two knives with pliers and a leatherman with scissors
If your logic falling apart yet? :ahhh

Squirt - MT
Swisschamp - SAK
Xtract - MT

So no not really.  :D

Find the thread and it explains all.  ;)

I've given up finding threads on here, the search feature hates me  :ahhh Only thing I found was this, from a very short thread

Interesting point... I think the differentiation here is that a SAK is "based" on a knife, while the standard multitool is based on pliers.... at least in most cases, but then I voted NO on the SAK/Multitool poll...

Again, Buck Xtract? Victorinox Bladeless?

Only read to the second page because Gareth had a reply that I don't see how anyone can argue with, and if someone does, I won't be able to sleep at night knowing they exist  :ahhh

I agree with Yud that in all ways a SAK meets the definition of a multitool and I don't think anyone can realistically disagree.  However in the interests of clarity I think it is easier to have distinctions.  So a pliers based multitool is a MT, a Swiss Army Knife is a SAK, an Atwood is a One Piece Tool etc.

So is a SAK a multitool? Yes, without a doubt.

Will I be calling it a SAK or a MT?  It's a SAK of course.
