Mini Mag RED LED's
on: March 03, 2010, 07:01:22 AM
For a while, Nite-Ize made an LED upgrade for the mini mag that used RED LED's, but this has been discontinued. Anyone else know of any product that will convert a mini mag to red LED's?

No, but have you thought of changing the lens to a red one?  Same net result I'd think.

for example;

I know I'll have to settle for that, I was just wondering if I had any other option.

I've got a couple of UK sites that are claiming to still have them (might be out of date though), of it's any help I could act as a middle man if they don't do international postage or whatever.

Buy any 5 mm red LED, cut the legs to length and stick it in the bulb socket of regular minimag (will also need to drill out the reflector opening). You can also optionally cut off the focusing dome and use it with reflector. You'll need to use rechargeable batteries for the lower voltage or the LED won't last long, but then again they are really cheap from dealextreme.

I'm no help with finding the red LED drop ins mate.  I think getting some filters would be a good way forward though - then if you need another coloured light for whatever reason you cn just swap them out.
