SAiK SA-8 Review Pic Heavy
on: March 03, 2010, 08:05:27 PM
So after the success of my Romisen RC-A4 I found myself buying another flashlight from the Orient :D

This time from eBay. It's called an SAiK SA-8; you can get from DealExtreme etc. or by searching '200 Lumens Q4 CREE Led Flashlight Torch Lamp+Holster 8B' on eBay. It has 3 modes; Lo, Hi and Strobe. The difference with this over the Romisen is that there is noticeable difference from Lo to Hi  :tu:

It is versatile when it comes to power; it can take 1 x 18650, 2 CR123A's or 3 x humble AAA's :D At the minute I have regular Duracell AAA in it and it is very powerful. I had planned to power it with the CR123A's with AAA's as back up but I have now ordered Eneloop batteries after hearing so many great things here  :salute: The SAiK somes with a holder for the AAA's and a black tube for the CR123A's and presumably the 18650.

It is larger than the Romisen but fits comfortably in the hand and comes with a strap. Failing that it also comes with a convenient holster  :tu:

It's not too big; I did a quick pic with ruler :D

It's hard to see with shadows but it's 13.5cm / 5.25 inches long  :tu:

True.

I was surprised how big it looked compared to a Charge. ;)

Chunky monkey isn't it?  :o

So what does it throw out using only the AA option?

Got some more shots of this light. I don't think it is that big, not for me anyway :D

It fits well in my hand, if it had an 'assault crown' it would make a reasonable weapon  :twak:

Any chance for side by side beamshot of the Saik and the RC-A4?

Thanks.

My CR123A ran out on the RC-A4 but I have some ordered; if BestOfferBuy hadn't messed up the order they would have been here  ::) I will do some beamshots of the Saik later tonight  :tu:

While I am still getting to grips with the flashlight terminology / technology but I would say the Saik is a thrower :D

I like the multiple battery options and it looks to be a nice size to me too.  Perhaps a little big for my EDC needs but a great car torch maybe.  I'm looking forward to the beam shots. :tu:
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Ok here goes my first beam shots :D If these aren't very good can someone please advise on best practice  :salute:

I have compared this Saik SA-8 against my Maglite 2D. The comparison shot with Lo vs Hi on the Saik isn't shown well with the camera but it is very different. The lights were about 7 feet from the wall; should I have been further?

When my batteries arrive for the Romisen I will post more beam shots  :salute:
