Mini maglite lumens
on: March 08, 2010, 02:55:23 AM
I'm trying to find the lumens on a mini maglite(non LED version) but all I come up with on the site is...nothing :-\

For reference purposes, what is the actual lumens of a mini mag 2AA?

I never noticed what a puny amount of light it produced. I think its due to the fact I never edc it, nor never really needed it for extreme light situatuions other than luminating hallways

There are some Maglite upgrades that are worth the effort.

For my 4D Maglite, I've dropped this in: (Supposedly 500 Lumen)

For my mini Maglites, I've added these (from the same website, zbattery.com) (140 Lumen)

The TerraLUX TLE-5EX drop-in is a great upgrade, although I somewhat question the 140 Lumen claimed.  It still makes the Mini an excellent light though.

That is the best you can get for a D maglight?  I would have thought you would have been able to get several P7s or SST-50s into one of those things, especially when running liions

Huh.  Looking at some of the SST-50 lights make 500-1000 but require 2-3 CR123 cells to do it AND have shorter runtimes.  Going to the TerraLUX site, the current version of this drop in is rated at 700 Lumens.

It seems extremely bright to me...

The Brinkmann Nexstar Xenon lamp gives the Mini-Mag a pretty decent boost, but of course, at a cost to run time.

Found out about that little trick from the owner of a Remington Electric Shave shop a few years back. I miss that shop, they carried almost every line of multitools.
Yeah, you right...
