Jetbeam Jet I pro V3, new addition to the family.
on: March 31, 2010, 01:48:16 PM
Just received my new Jetbeam Jet I Pro in the post this morning. I opted for the Q3-5A warm tint version as this is intended as my new outdoors light. Can't wait to try it out properly tonight when it gets dark.

The fit and finish on this light is superb, I've included a couple of Surefires in the pic for comparison as the Jetbeam doesn't look out of place amongst these 2.

The Jetbeam has 3 programmable modes, selected from the reverse clicky switch. Each mode can be from 2-145 lumens or various strobe/beacon modes. I have mine set to come on at max brightness, then 2 lumens, then flashing beacon mode. This is my first light capable of taking a 14500 rechargeable lithium ion battery and it is an option I may explore at a later date. This will increase output to 220 lumens, but for now, I will stick with Sanyo Eneloop NiMh.

In fact, I like this light so much, I ordered a 2nd one for my EDC rotation. This will be with the R2 emitter.

Looks like a great little light.  I keep meaning to get myself one but getting them over to New Zealand is a giant pain in the lower back.

Beamshots would be awesome mate.  Let us know how you get on with it after dark!  :D

A very nice Torch! What is the middle lumens between 2 & high power?

User defineable. Once you enter program mode, the light ramps slowly from minimum to max level. Once it reaches the level you want, turn off the light for a couple of seconds and it is set.

By default, the light shipped with it coming on high, a medium of about 80 lumens and then an insane strobe.

Just been outside for a play. Very smooth beam with a decent amount of throw. Colour reproduction with the warm LED is excellent. Sorry, no beamshots, but its raining here.

Don't expect mega runtimes Mike most you'll get on low depending what type of battery will be 3 hrs and on max around 1.5 hours again depending on battery type ;) that is of coarse I'm correct and I haven't done a whoopsy on MT.O carpet   :D

As per my original post, the 2nd Jetbeam with an R2 emitter arrived this morning, along with a Maxpedition 4in sheath.

Again, very clean beam and very white. Tried to do a beamshot of the 2 side by side, but my camera can't do it justice.

I've never been able to take any decent beamshots either mate.  I'm sure I'll get it right one day :).  Do you think you'll EDC the Q3-5A or the R2?

I'll EDC the R2. The Q3-5A is going to reside with my hiking gear.

I'm going to get myself one of these light I think.  I'll wait till I can get some 14500s at the same time though.  I'll go for the warmer tint I reckon.

Excellent, let me know how you get on with the 14500's. Been pondering getting some myself.

On the link to CPF posted by NutSAK, the last page contains an outdoor shot comparing the Q3 to a Q5.

I had the V2.0 for a while as my EDC. Got stolen out of my car in my driveway a while back . I hope they burned their retinas out  >:D.
It was a great light. Very well made, and I loved the UI and programmability to customize the thing. Had a nice beam profile to it for general EDC even if it was a bit throwy for indoors stuff.
