I don't see real use for it, unless there's a zombie apocalypse or :D It sure is a beautiful knife and is tempting, but expensive.

I thought the price was pretty good being that it has H1 blade steel. I'm going to sell more stuff to buy one so when the Zombies come I'll be ready!

However is there a MSRP on that? I did not seem to hear it.

In the SHOT show Spyderco booth vid Nutnfancy did he spoke about that blade a bit.

It's a cool blade, but I've got no use whatsoever for it.

I didn't look at the list, but street price is about $250.  :tu:

So most likely 190-200. Sounds good to me. I actually think a bunch of Military guys will love it. I know my Hobbit flowed nicely in the hand and transition drills from saber to Icepick grips went nicely with it.

Kuddos to them for actually taking the risk on making this one.Or was it marketing genius?

If you a good fixed blade knife in H1 steel, try Spyderco's Aqua Salt.

Man, I wish I never sold that knife....

I would have thought that with your aversion to knockoffs you wouldn't be interested in the Warrior.

I think the thing that bothered me the most about it is that Spyderco reps at SHOT insisted it wasn't a knockoff, and that the designer just happened to come up with exactly the same knife, in exactly the same dimensions and call it exactly the same name, but entirely by coincidence because he'd never seen the REKAT version before.

Sure he did....  it's the exact same coincidence that inspired Spencer at SOG to design the SOGzilla....

So in that video they are at least acknowledging that the design is totally based on the original Warrior.  I can buy that the Israeli designer started to come up with some ideas and then realised he wasn't on to anything new.  At least this version of the story sounds more honest.

My question would be; is the original designer getting any money?  Or perhaps has he's given the project the OK?  I'm not sure I'd be happy with the situation if that's not the case, especially after all the fuss about the SOG knock-off designs. :-\

I think the original designer died quite a few years back.

Still just because one person came up with a knife with curves in it doesn't mean anything else that looks like it should pay royalty to him.

Yes and no.

Similarities are one thing, but in this case the knife is pretty much an exact replica, right down to the type of serrations.  At least mix it up a bit if you want to pretend you are original.

Def, for some reason I can't quote you?   Anyway, I find it funny that when I say something is a copy all hell breaks loose and when you say it's a copy all I hear is crickets.  ::)

This will be my last post in this sub-forum. It looks like I'm running out of places to post here. I guess I'll just have to be a lurker.  :D

Folks tend to ignore me when I point out copying too- look at me pointing out that the replaceable cutters on the ST300 and MUT are copied from Gerber.

Plus, this isn't a similar concept, it's an identical copy, and the story seemed to be (at least at the time) that it was all original.

Make all the posts you like, anywhere you like.  You just have to respect that other people may not agree with you, and that's ok.  this would be a very boring forum if everyone liked the same things.
