I'm not trying to be controversial or start a flame war, but I really fail to understand the love affair with the Sideclip people have on here ???

I had one when they first came out (for the princely sum of £46.95 if I remember rightly) and I was woefully underwhelmed by it :-\ The PST was better in EVERY regard in my opinion, expecially in corrosion resistance, as my SC was pant's and not turning it's internals orange ::)

For the size of it, it's just so lacking in utility, so beyond there rare status (reason enough) why go to the trouble of getting one?

I've never owned one/ never considered one so I can't really talk.  But it might loved because of novelty value.  The mini tool is awesomely innovative for the pliers but otherwise it is......somewhat lacking in every other department.  I still love the mini, maybe people feel the same about SCs's?

ive found this with a lot of MT's kar, some love em and some hate em, i loved the old wave but loads seem to loath them   same with the new wave, ive had no issues with them, different strokes for different folks  :tu: if we all liked the same stuff it would be boring,

No, but you did get me thinking about my old one, and what I didn't like about it :)

Personally I'd just get one of those stick on clip's that Tim sell's. And stick it on PST than bother with a SC :)

I have carried mine a time or so :D I like the way there built and that they are a bit different than the others in the classic range ;) I like tools with more functions as well :D They are light and convenient though

An odd comment for someone who EDCs a Farmer ;)

I can only speak for myself of course, but the Sideclip is one of the most portable full sized plier multis that has ever existed. Of course, it doesn't have as many functions as the PST, but it is significantly slimmer, and with the clip it can be carried without being obtrusive.

There aren't many full-sized multis that you carry in a suit breast pocket without weighing your jacket down on one side. :)

Then there's the undeniable precision involved in fitting the four piece handles together so exactly, and the little notch for the tool adapter - those little precision niceties that I thought a Vic fan would appreciate.

Then of course, there's the fact that it's legal EDC, which makes it one of the few proper multitools that would appeal to us Brits.

Then, it has become a relatively unusual (if not rare) tool, so it has a bit of a wow factor too.

And it looks great.

Shall I go on?

But I've got either a Swisschamp or ST in my work bag ;)

I guess I see MT's as 'stand alone' tools because of there relative size/bulk compared to a sak, and the SC always seemed to come up short for me :)

For me the Sideclip can handle most things I'll come up against in a day at the office or even around the house.

No need for a "backup tool" in my bag either ;)

Obviously, if I'm going somewhere and I think I'm going to need more, I take more (and of course that is generally a Charge in my case), but because the Sideclip is more discreet, it definitely has it's place. You can think of it as the full size Leatherman equivalent of the Vic Classic maybe :)
I used to come here a lot.

I was thinking more like what the Classic is to the Swisschamp, the Sideclip is to the Wave... or something. Sure it's still 4" long. but depth and weight wise, it's a tiddler compared to the Wave.

It would be a good choice, given your age Ryan. It's a whole lot less "scary: than the Charges blade, and of course totally legal. As Mike says though, it's not the most feature packed tool you'll ever see!

I used to come here a lot.

I'll give it it's due, it did disappear into a pocket easily :)

And although mine did pit easily, it is a lot more resistant to the ingress of lint that a sak will ever be :)

The Sideclip does what it's supposed to do.. Being there when I need it and dissapear when not..  :)
I don't have any heavy duty tasks to perform at work, so it's a perfect legal EDC for me.. A slimmer tool with a coolness factor
way higher than the Kick I used to carry..  :multi:
And it flips open with one hand..  ;)

Well I've never found myself wanting a saw :p although I'd like to see maybe a file instead of a can opener but if you whack it in your day bag I doubt you'd need that either so can opener would be better

And yeah that's why my charge only goes with me to work (I'm surprised how well its held up to be honest gets a bit used and abused)  if I'm else where ill have my pst sheathed in my bag or in my pocket

im the same ryan, for general use the pst is great, i only really use a saw now and then for work, and have used it camping, but dat to day the pst is a good EDC , my wave is always in my back pack, but i dont carry it every day ,

The SideClip is my favourite legal EDC multitool . I prefer a Wave or Spirit for my normal EDC but when I'm going out for the evening or the Cinema its the SideClip that comes with me . It slips in my pocket easily and is nice and light .Very often I carry it along side my Wave or Spirit and if I need to I'll put the locking tool in the car and just keep the SC on me .As Dave was saying about the way the four sides are put together , I really like this and find it adds to the appeal of the tool. Another bonus is its easier to find the security torx bits to strip or adjust it then it is to get hold of the ones for the PST .Also the tools adapter fits it really well and makes for a good combo  :tu:

Come on Mike everyone loves the SideClip  :pok:

I think there is a lot to be said for a small pair of pliers in your pocket and the SideClip does that, the other tools it has are just a bonus.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I agree with that logic :salute:

Also: if you happen to be shopping for a SideClip for carrying duty, try to find the later model with the polished finish. They resist rust far better than the early bead blast finish ones.

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

They were practically giving them away 6 or 7 years ago. :P Talk about a multitool that was "before its time". :-\ The going price has over doubled since they were discontinued. :(
