My truck has a tool box that straddles the bed, so have it packed with stuff I hardly use.  My brother says it is hurting gas milage.

I keep a phone book in the pocket behind the seat to look up numbers when I'm on the road.  Cheaper than 411, and I don't have a smart enough phone to google on the road.

Also a small pack w/change of clothes, water bottle, some basic first aid, etc.  This is nice to grab for a quick jaunt that you are not sure if it could turn into an all-day affair.

A 3D Maglight- because sometimes it's comforting to have something big & heavy.

And an old Superknife clipped to the seat.
