I have the LD10 Q5 also, beam is a little ringy in mine. I believe R4 is only 7 Lumens brighter, and probably more floodier, not sure its worth upgrading, unless you want to get rid of the rings.

The type of emitter is what makes a light more or less floody. For instance, an XP-G is floodier than an XP-E due to the size of the die in each emitter.An R4 XP-E would be less floody than an R4 XP-G, just as a Q5 XP-E would be less floody than a Q5 XP-G. The flux bin (Q3, Q5, R2, R4, etc.) just determines the efficiency at the same drive level.
