camera toss

Has anyone ever tried this?

basically you throw your camera up in the air and it takes a crazy photo, i want to give it ago but was looking for some advice first

Basically its setting your camera to a long shutter speed and tossing it up while the shutter is open.  I get a effect like this for concert type shots.  I set my camera to flash first and then keep the shutter open a little while longer.  people are focus for the most part, but you get some crazy light trails from the camera shake.  Can make a nice effec tif used correctly.  I have a beater P&S camera that I might try this with.

Another way, applicable to DSLR and SLR cameras....you zoom during a long exposure.

As for the camera toss, only if you don't care about your gear and you’re not worried about dropping it.

I would not do it for the reason that I like my cameras too much and there are safer ways to get close to the same effect

I had a cool pic years ago on my old 35mm slr, i had it on a tripod with the shutter open , i had it next to a train track as the train went past, it worked out cool, i did it with fireworks as well,
