Layer order for Yeoman
on: April 03, 2010, 04:07:13 AM
I am building an Yeoman. I noticed that there are two different orders for the layers:
1. Mag/Phillips, Scissors, Blade/Combotool
2. Scissors, Mag/Phillips, Blade/Combotool
"The original Yeoman had the Magnifying Glass & Phillips in the top layer, the SwissBianco editions put these tools in the middle layer and moved the Scissors to the top layer." http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Yeoman Is one order better? Why did +B switch the order?

From what I can remember one of the reasons was so they won't end up on ebay and sold as "originals", the magnifier is of the newer style for the same reason.

That makes sense. So from a usability stance, which is better?

I would think have the phillips centered would make it easier or at least more comfortable to use.

and having scissors on the edge layer can give precise cuts when laid out flat  makes sense?

Nice.  That's my preferred order for the Yeoman.  This one is the best of both worlds--the better order, and the original mag/phillips with the longer philllips driver.

Thanks guys. I love my Yeoman. It is my desk SAK, which means it gets tons of work.

I guess a made the perfect Yeoman by accident. Plus scales, good layer order, the old mag/Phillips and the nail file hook.
