I'm an idiot help

Ok I'm trying to remove the vcutter and replace with scissors. I've watched the video countless times and I still can't get the tool back together right. Can someone show a step by step with photos of everything including scissors putting together and where washers, spacers, ect go PLEASE.

OKAY I GOT IT!!!!!

So I'm so mad that it won't go together I never realize until its already together that the knife they sent the tip is broke off of and the scissors are silver.

Ok well after looking closer it appears that I didn't get it right as the lock sits weird.

Is your Powerlock one with the piano locks? Just a guess as to why you're having so much difficulty.

I'm not sure.

so I wondering why the tools knock the lock down and then nothing lines up with the lock.

The lock won't engage when the scissors are open? That very odd. They didnt get put on backwards by accident maybe? That's all I can think of.

Lock engages if I push the tool down hard. It also don't look like other side. Yes the scissors are in correct. I'm going to try again tonight!

Hmmm the only other thing I can think of is if the pivot is not through the other side of the handle, so in effect its a bit crooked. If its still not working out when you try again take a couple pics and it'll be easier to figure out.

See if the two sides of the handle are too close together for the lock tab to fit in.

I'm thinking the lock broke somehow. As When I try to put it back together like it was the lock still won't engage right. Maybe I need to call sog?

I have noticed this behavior on 2 PowerLocks I own. I have never disassembled these 2 Powerlocks and they are different vintages.

The scissors has 2 separate pieces which contain notches which engage the lock. The 2 pieces move in relation to each other as you rotate the scissors out of the handle, but the notches are aligned only when the scissors are fully opened. Sometimes the scissors' wire spring sticks (resists motion), so the scissors must be gently coerced into opening fully.

I try to keep the tool well oiled, but wipe away the excess.

Well my contact with Sog wasn't very good. The person I spoke with was dumb as a box of rocks and can't understand plain english for smurf. So it appears I'm stuck with a broken blade and locks. I think I'm going to call and see if I can get some better info cause email sure didn't work out.

Is your PL black or steel? I have all the parts for it and would be willing to fix it for you if its plain steel finish.

They put the right tools in but didn't fix lock OR send me back the v-cutter I ask for.....

I'm just going to use it as is. I can engage lock myself with a little push on it. :d Its awesome no matter what as its MTO branded. I love it and have carried it the last 2 days since it came back.

Sounds like you have the same problem I had, the scissors are like 1.5 layers thick, so there isn't enough space for the lock tab to fit in without a push. I ended up adding a hacksaw blade to mine and it fits perfectly.
