INOVA X5
on: May 19, 2010, 12:02:31 AM
I have had this flashlight for 7 years now.  It is a bit outdated now but it still works and it is made very well.  Technology has gotten better now so I have seen $10 plastic flashlights that are brighter.  It uses two 3v lithium batteries and the website says it has 56 lumens of brightness.

The newest generation of Inova X5s are much brighter than earlier versions, but I had to return several to the store because of LED failures within a month of purchase.

I have 3 older X5s and 2 of the latest generation.   They are built tough and make great tasklights.  I keep one in each family vehicle and often use the others as on-person EDC lights.

The X5 (at least the older ones) are one of the best task lights around. Not the brightest, but built to last and as mentioned above will run on batteries that wont power some other lights anymore.

The old X5 is a classic light. Very solid build and a battery vampire, sucking every last bit of power from CR123's that could no longer work in other lights. Also had a useful floody beam.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

The X5 has been my work EDC light for several years. I have a Fenix but I prefer to carry this one because it has great battery run time and it's built like a tank. Also I don't need all those extra modes. It's a very reliable light.
