Ah I see it now Ben  :tu: you're right I was looking at one side where it's bent over the clutch can be described as a channel piece and the shortcut a piece bent a 90 degrees then stops if I'm looking at it right this time  ;)

Hmmmm, good eye there Ben :salute: The pliers, scales, and other blades all look the same, but there are definitely two generations of Clutches and Shortcuts out there. Your experience suggests that the no-nub/two-piece-frame version is the latest. (gray model in pics below) I agree that the other version is better. :-\

I suppose it's not a big deal, but the newer certainly don't look/feel as nice a product as the originals.

Thanks for the feedback Bob.  :tu:

A person can't help but wonder why they changed it though. The two-piece handle frame I can understand.....maybe.....as perhaps the one-piece frame on the original was difficult to manufacture?

But the anti-wiggle nub sticking up from the backspring is a really good idea that doesn't "cost" anything. Why remove it?

Maybe the nubs can press into your hands when you have to squeeze hard on the handles?

I preferred to remove the sharp corners of the handles on a bench grinder. The lanyard ring got ground off, as would have any nub that woulda been there. But mine was the newer, nubless variant, anyway. :)
