Stop all this talk of motorbikes >:(

Don't you know how hard it's been to keep away from them these last few years (I fixed one up a few months back, but never actually rode it, so it doesn't count!)

It doesn't have to be all or nothing.  Ride a bicycle 75% of the time, motorcycle 25%.  It gives the foot a rest and is still 75% green.

(If you'd like, I could tell you why your actions are completely futile, but that would be fairly nilhistic)

No, let me keep at least one of my dreams alive :o Actually I know most of the argument's both for and against, and bottom line I just don't want to use up my son's worlds resources :)

I'm going to have to give in and get one pretty soon anyway, as I'm about to be promoted at work, which will mean EVEN more work, and my stupid foot's pretty much crying foul all the time now ::)

So I'm on the hunt for a 125-300cc to get in the next couple of months :-\

Ninja 250.  Virtually can't kill it.  Gets 60 mpg with just a modicum of self restraint.

My wife has a Scooter (Genuine is the brand, but I think that's US only--it's a Taiwanese made scoot)  150 cc.  Gets 90 mpg, has under seat storage (a little) and can be key or kick started.  Total hoot to ride.  Good up to about 55 mph.  You can get it to ~65, but it takes time and some effort.

There nearly £4000 over here though, so well out of my price bracket sadly. In fact since they changed the learner laws in the early 80's, 250cc are a rare breed indeed, which is a shame, as there idea for most real life journeys :)

I'm looking at a Yammie YBR125 or a Honda CBF125, both of which meet current emissions standards, and you'll get at least 100mpg at out of them :)

I had a 94, and it was a dream of a bike

While at work I saw an old cycle in a garage, I just stopped to ask what it was.  It was a 1966 Honda Dream (See internet pic).  I was drooling over how much fun it would be around town.

I really like the Hexhead GS.  Just not the price.  The thing I like about DS bikes is when you drop them, replacing plastic is pretty cheap.  On a BMW, not so much.

Have you seen the new Testatretta Multistrada?
Programable suspension, ABS, traction control... (for about the same as a 1200GS)

Very nice looking bike.   I wish they made a stripped down version with none of the electronic stuff.   ABS is great, but I never liked traction control or electronically adjusted shocks much.

I wish they made an R100GSPD again but with 15 more HP.   That was by far the best bike I've ever owned.   I bought it new and sold it with over 200,000 mile on it.   The guy that bought it flew out from NewYork with all his gear, put the cash in my hand, loaded up and headed  home.   I thought it was pretty cool he was going to ride the old girl 3300 miles across the country home until he told me he was going via Argentina  :o

My Honda XR650L is getting me around for now.

I think I'll go test ride one of those new stradas though....
