ELSENER RAZOR
on: May 09, 2010, 07:59:01 PM
 Hello Guys
Ok I have a question for now and I will TRY to post a picture later...
I own a ELSENER STRAIGHT RAZOR that I got on EBAY years ago.
It's in VERY GOOD shape , no ding or dents , No cracks. original sharp on the edge.
The BOX ; well I do not know if it's original because has an American name on it.
also has some Company name on the blade.
IT HAS THE ELSENER mark near the Thumb part of the razor.
Handle is some kind of Ivory color plastic ( No craks )
How much this is worth ? I never seen any other on ebay or elsewhere...
Please let me know ( i will try some pics as soon I can )
 Thanks
M.TEX

Sounds interesting, get the pics up  :pok:

You might have some luck asking on the forums held here

http://www.straightrazorplace.com/

I had a quick search myself for you but nothing showed up,  I know a couple of members there that I caould ask on your behalf if you'd like or perhaps he clasifieds might throw something up.

If you could post the other markings it might be easier, in-particular the company name.

The Box maybe it's from a US Company , looks like was just used to store the Razor.
The name on the box :  W M Lawrence  New York city  and the funny part is below that say : Made in Germany.
and inside you find the Elsener that I show on these 2 pics.

That looks like a nice razor that.

and the funny part is below that say : Made in Germany.

I'm willing to bet that it was made in Solingen. That's where all razors seem to come from!
I used to come here a lot.

I saw a couple knives with identity crises at the flea market on Saturday; tang was stamped Soligen, but the blade said China. ^^;

I have seen a picture of 2 RAZORS on the swiss knife books , but they are black and white , and no Catalogue
number. I think they were made in Switzerland BUT the box was used by the last owner.
Maybe " the Boss " could ask his friends in Switzerland about this Razor or all the others made by Elsener.

BTW , I will this  SELL as soon I have an idea of the VALUE. I need the cash to pay for something that cost a lot
of clams and I do not have any at this moment... :D

 Thanks

Tex if you don't mind I'll post the pictures on the razor forums and ask for an ID

It's already been suggested by a friend there that the box you have the razor in is probably not the original as the Lawrence brand i was indeed mostly made in the US.

Could you do me a favour and measure the blade in inches, height and length, as it might make it easier t find a match

Handle  is 5 1/2 long. ( 5/8 wide at the largest part at the end )

BLADE 4 inches long  with the thumb part. Cutting edge 2 7/8 by  5/8 wide.

That's it. So If you could pass the Info on that Forums I will be happy.
I just don't want to sign to ask a question.
