Currently Reading "Deathworld"

Trashy as all get out, but fine enough for a bit of unsubtle action (and absolute fan service. Apparently if I don't have references from the game screamed at me in every other sentence, I'll forget that its set in WH40k)

This site has some astonishing work as well.  I'd give my left testicle to be as good as some of those guys!  Ok, so maybe I wouldn't, but it would be cool to be that good.

Finally managed to grab some camera time, here a few pics of some of my older work.

Atwoods in there for scale as these are the 58mm Inquisitor figures, many thanks to gadget Guy for such a cool scale indicator  :tu:

I'd never be patient enough for that much detail... I did spend an entire weekend on a cockpit of an F18 once tho.

I thought making and then painting was always the best approach, even with my complete lack of talent :)

make, and then paint, is always the best way with a few exceptions.  I used to put tracks onto tanks after painting.

make sure you spray prime before painting though, the paint doesn't stick correctly otherwise.

Yup as magnus said, build then paint,

I brush on my primer rather than spray as spraying leaves the shadowed areas unprimed sometimes.  Good luck and lets see some pics when your done  :tu:

I find priming before building is essential, sometimes even doing as much painting as possible before assembly, as you can do the minor touch ups after assembly. Of course fine detail should be left until the end, with the exception of things that are internal such as cockpit interiors, or the inside of a car, but then again, most of my model building experience is as I mentioned, to do with cars and planes.

While perusing the reaper miniatures site, and I blame you lot for that as I seem to have the painting bug again after 2 years off, I spotted this picture here of one of the painters work bench.

I think that's a leatherman in the foreground what do ya think?

Here's the link to the whole article.

:D  Even Space Marines find the SURGE too heavy for EDC :)

@ Ryan1835:

My process was this - remove from sprue, clean off flash (not the MT.O member :D), wash in soapy water (mold release fluid removal), construct, prime, paint, varnish.  Some people like to paint the stuff whilst it is still on the sprue but I never found that helpful.

I've got a veritable truckload of spare WH40K bits.  If there is anything specific you need I could send them to you when I'm back in the UK in May.  Just let me know (I have bits from 40k, WH, LOTR - you name it :D)

My favorite of the series. Can't go wrong with that.

I bought Dawn of War II Chaos Rising a week and a half ago, and haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

saw several versions of DOWII, but the prices were not as friendly. I've not heard such good things about it... I just finished (again) DOW:Dark Crusade using the Tao a few days ago... :)
