Uncle mike's sidekick
on: May 23, 2010, 08:24:19 PM
Picked up this thing at a yardsale, seller say it's camping saw but I've never seen anything like it. Handle says Uncle Mike's, the belt loop on back says Uncle Mike's sidekick (google for the name turned up gun holster). Saw is 8.5" long with coarse and fine tooth, handle (plastic with metal reinforcement) can swivel to either side after loosen the nut (which is solid metal). The sheath is very sturdy, heavily padded nylon and hard plastic sheets sandwiching the saw, feels stronger than leatherman's pancake sheath.

It works as well as any other hand saw when I tried it on dry wood, don't have any green wood around to try. It's not double toothed like laplander, just single row of tooth with set and bevel.

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David
