Gerber Multiplier
on: June 11, 2010, 11:52:41 PM
This is one of my favourite multitools. It's old, battered and cost me 3 quid off ebay before the ban.

When I got it there was so much crud built up in there that the tools didn't open, and I had to strip it right down to clean it up. Now it's one of my favourite tools and gets a fair bit of use in a Leatherman dominated world!

I have two other brand new Multipliers, one in satin finish, the other in BO, but they lack the character of this knackered one.

Let's talk about the good old Multiplier  :pok:
I used to come here a lot.

Is that like the one you showed me at the meetup?

I know that's a bit vague.... we discussed how it was UK legal if it's the one I'm thinking of?

It may well have been, as it's non-locking and therefore UK Legal :)

What did you think of it?

It's had a hard enough life already, without being condemned sent to Oz ;)

This one's a keeper Mat. It's the one I use for all the crappy jobs, as damage often makes it look better :D

I'm starting to like Gerber a whole lot more than I once did. I remember I used to have an MP600 (the kind with the yellow handles and BO plier head), and it was a solid tool, just not my EDC. I think my biggest beef was the awkwardness of getting the inside-opening tools out. Though this may confuse some people considering I have no complaints about the SOG tools I use!

I had a very similar MP years ago and sold it - much regrettably. That was one outstanding multitool

Very nice David. That's reminiscent of the MPT awl:

I just noticed that my SS MPT is different to the BO MPT actually:

Same model as DaveK's. All the tools are black oxide. Recently got it back from Gerber. Polished to remove their "X" when you do a warranty and also because the black oxide was worn badly. I actually like the silver/black combination, seems to have more of a classy feel and look about it now.....

BTW not in a rush to part with it but anyone interested?
