I got my first SOG today

So, yea.  It's here!  An S60 Powerlock in Stainless.   I never thought I would be carrying a SOG, I don't know why, but this tool rocks!  I am very impressed by the compound leverage, and even though the locking mechanism leaves a little to be desired, I think this one will be a heavy user for sure.  I think what sold me was the ability to disassemble and customize, but it wasn't a sure thing until I found out about the gear covers.  This is the S60 without piano locks.  I thought it would be too heavy but it disappears on my belt.  It seems perfectly functional in every aspect and I am very pleased.

EDIT: the knife is kinda cheesy but I mainly use my MT blades for abusive tasks anyway, and since this one can be readily replaced it's even better!

I always thought the 'pivoting handle covers' would get in the way.  I understand hand protection, but prefer the other direction of one-hand opening, rather than an extra step.  My opinion- hope it serves you well, and glad to see you intend on actually using it!     :tu:

SOG has a very high fiddling/fondling factor for me. They just feel and open super smooth due to their gears. The barn doors are a pain to open and close, and thus, I wouldn't exactly want to EDC one for that fact alone. However, their quality feel is unquestionable in my opinion. I find myself playing with the SOGs more often than not while watching TV...yes I know...I am weird.  :D

Nothing weird about that... I'm actually planning an evening of "Quantom of solace" and SOGs myself.. :D

I do it too, this Powerlock is the coolest Multi I have seen for the fiddle factor.  I play with it all the time, and everyone calls me wierd!

I don't find the handle covers too cumbersome, and I really don't care for the OHO Multi options that LM offers.  All the blades seem to open too easily.  I like a tool that can be dropped (on accident) without fear of a wickedly sharp blade coming out.  The only outside accessible tools that I like are the Swisstools.  I wish LM would take a page from that book.

Everyone is talking about how much they play with their tools. I feel left out because I don't own a SOG! I will admit I fiddle quite a lot with my SAK though. (pronounce that as a word, not 3 letters)

I am very happy with my Sog powerLock.  It is my favorite full size multi that I own.

Weird.  I've dropped my Wave from pretty much every conceivable position at this point, including off of ladders, and the only thing I've ever had move was the file once.  The rest of the tool is splayed open all over the place, of course, but you kind of expect that ;P
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

I just seem to have a run of bad luck when it comes to the Wave/Surge/Charge models.  I love them, but they just don't work for me.  I will end up with another Wave though, even if it just sits with my PST on the shelf!
