How do you guys shave?

Depends on how much time I have, a quick trim round the edges and I use a 1960s Gilette FatBoy DE razor ( it has a ajustable blade pitch you know  )

If I have more time then I much prefer to use a straight razor currently a Dove Special.

Other paraphernalia include a double strop, Vegetarian shaving brush (which wasn't easy to find when i bought it) and a selection of shaving soaps, currently my favourite is a Art of Shaving classic glycerine based block

I'll get some pics later



Note the adjustor for setting the pitch goes from 1. "a light trim", thought 5. "my that's close" all the way to 9. "only the brave"

I use a Philips Philishave Cool Skin series 7000 shaver. I love it. Best rotary I know, and I have tried many.

Gillette Fusion.  Once down, once up, dry well, cartridges last for close to a month.

Thanks to this thread I just ordered a Fusion with 5 new blades instead of my usual disposables..
I got this "Razorpit" sharpener in the deal also, which makes one blade last up to 150 times.. 


I can't wait to see how it works. It's invented by a clever Dane of course..

Thank you!!! You don’t know it but you have helped me out with that picture. I have been considering buying that stand but I have been in doubt since I couldn’t find a decent picture of it with a brush and razor. Do you use the bowl to make the lather? It looks pretty small for that function.

I tried to lather in the metal bowl once but your right it's much to small, I normally just make the lather in the wooden bowl the soap sits in.

It is however great for catching drips from the brush and as it's small doesn't take up space on the shelf

when I first started shaving I used the crappiest disposable razors. when I was 18 I stayed at my uncle's house and tried his Gillette sensor excel razor and was amazed how miraculously smooth it was. I've been using that since then.
I would like to be able to wield a cutthroat razor properly, but its a bit of an art to learn, seems like a cool man-skill to have. It'll have to wait for when I have a bit more time on my hands.

I've been using a straight razor for about 16 months now, and there's no turning back.

In fact I'm toying with asking for a new blade for my birthday now that I've proved the concept a bit.

Honestly I try not to shave as much as possible.  I shave every other day when I'm working but when I'm on leave thats more like once a week.  I use a mach 3 usually but sometimes a disposable.

I shaved for movember and now I'm using it as an excuse to not shave for a month
