Noname multitool and fake victorinox classic.
on: July 19, 2010, 08:14:41 PM

The package together cost 20 danish kroners (4dollars)
And while the multitool is utterly crap I'd actually say the fake classic is pretty good quality for a knock-off (no where as good as a real ofcourse) and I'd say its good enough to pay the price alone, but not by much more. The knife is moderately sharp and the file is alright aswell, there isnt any scissors. The toothpick is also moderate but quite small, same with the tweezers, you cant realy get a proper grip on them. As I have no need for it its going on my mother's keychain  :P

This thing is just plain garbage. It is incredibly tight to open and close (yet the splitring is attached to a kind of hook and loop lock so you can lock it together when its closed, not that it ever would open by itself though. I almost had to use a pair of pliers to open it)
The tools doesnt lock and doesnt even have a backspring, its just the tightness that keep them in their open and closed position. The jaws are flatnose which I realy like the look of (Its just more brutal and manly  :D) but I realy cant see a use for it on such a small pair of pliers.
I guess the screwdrivers are alright, I couldnt find any screws to use them on though. The scissors also seem pretty sharp but they are so small that I'm unable to cut anything with them. The blade is simply a joke, its more dull than a butter knife (literally, I compared them) and it seems that it has been sharpened with a file, it is so uneven that if you run your finger over the side of it, it will get dragged becourse of the roughness (that is the side of the blade, not the actual cutting part... Which isnt much better) it might just be pointy enough to be used as a awl though.

Now becourse this is worth less than nothing I got the idea that I'd make it into a necklace. Since I actually realy like the shape of the pliers (without the handles) And they would be freaking rivethead to put on a chain. So now I will try and get them off the handles, which wont be easy since the rivets seem to be a metal pin that is stuck through and then hammered flat on both sides. I think the easiest way would be to take a metal saw (I dont got such one but I am going to a friend tomorrow and bringing it since I am pretty sure he has one) and cutting over the metal pin between the handle slaps and the plier jaws, sawing through the spacers. If you can see what I mean on the last picture. Doing this on both sides I should be able to drag the pins out and I should be able to put a splitring through both the holes where the pins where before. And then a chain through the two splitrings so its flat against my chest when I wear it.
I'll post pictures if I can do it.

Hope the review wasnt too bad written, its the first one I have done.
And sorry for the crappy pictures  :ahhh

I'll have to throw up my 'possible' fake SAK :D

This is a serious saw I'm sure you'll agree  :ahhh

The file will file you to within an inch of your life  :D

There certainly are plenty of fakes out there and sadly many people are quite happy them  :-\

I've got a 'reasonable' fake Vic Cybertool; it is currently used for making lanyards. I heat the blade over a flame to cut the paracord; it serves its purpose well  :tu:

I've also got a similiar multitool. The pliers are acceptable given their size everything else is pretty bad, the scissors are the worst  ::)

Good write-up Lasse...  ;) :D

Luckily I have managed to more or less stay clear of the fake MT's so far (allright I have three in all  :P), but
there's quite a few in The Great (?) Knock-Off Multitool Thread.

There was one of those in the shop aswell Cerbera  :P just by looking at it I knew it wasnt worth much, the multitool was in closed position in the clamshell package though and eventhough I was pretty sure it was some china knock-off I didnt know how bad it was, but hey. For four dollars it didnt make me broke  :D

Does the US and EU brands made all there tools at there home factories or let they made some tools, scales , parts , the metal etc.made in china or taiwan?

When they let make things at the same home quallity with there own quallity controll, nobody knows.
They can also let made the chinese the parts and assambly the complete tools in there home factories, and then it is not made in china I think so.
But the chinese make copies about everythings and don't have developing costs and have a big home and export market to sell stuff. Also the employees are very cheap.
Can the chinese make high quallity tools and knives or make they at the moment only bad copies and cheap junk?
Like the japanese in the past did the same and now they made the best quallity things we like to buy.

The Chinese can definitely make good stuff when they want to :salute: But unfortunately much of the products we see coming out of China are still crud. :( (the mini multitool that Lasse Eskildsen pictured above being a case in point) :P
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools
