Swisstool plierhead strength
on: July 15, 2010, 06:26:34 PM
I recently had occasion to change the fuel filter on my long suffering Golf. Easy if you have the right tools and clips to hand, but the car died on the driveway and I happened to have a spare filter in the shed but no replacement hose clips. This meant the old clips had to be removed and refitted without damaging them. This was done with the trusty Swisstool but involved a lot of heavy duty squeezing with the pliers. I started out with my Wave but gave up for fear of breaking the plier tips.  The Swisstool coped although it was hard work but boy am I glad it was to hand. I'm not knocking Leatherman in any way but I did feel something was going to give on the Wave. Anyway, the Golf runs like a dream again, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Seventeen this year by the way  :D

Especially if you saw my bike. It's another vintage model.

What style of head do you have Chris?  I do think the newest one looks a bit too stubby for my taste, but I understand different horses for different courses. :)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
