Surefire C2 Centurion
on: June 18, 2010, 01:10:14 AM
Hello everyone.  I have someone from another forum offering me a Surefire C2 Centurion incandescent for a razor shop/trade.  I know nothing about this flashlight and want to know what you think of it.  My cousin who is an automotive fleet tech and a hunter says Surefire lights are way too expensive for what you get and says they are hype, however he could not mention or give any alternatives except show me his Snap-On flashlight (which we know he paid way to much for).  Advice and thought on this one?  :)

Very good quality bomb proof lights, not the smallest, incan version burn through battery like popcorn, some people hate the switch as it's twist on, not click on.

You can always buy a LED module for it thou.

The C2's a good bombproof light . I used to carry it's slightly beefier brother the M2 , wish I still had it . You can get a Surefire LED dropin , or a number of others ( Lighthound is a good source ) . Some of these dropins will yeild 250-300 Lumens .

I have rovked Surefires since the early ninties , I trust them . More than I can say for the offshore stuff .

I am playing with a C2 right now. A friend lent it to me for designing the LED dropin module for it.
It's a really good light.
Though I don't know how it looks with its original lamp. The one in my hand don't have that.
It has a good looking, good feeling and good brand.
You can buy it, and try my new dropin for it too.
It's a 1500mA output single level Dropin, using 2X CR123 / RCR123, just like the original one.

I am looking at these items for the C2:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12501

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3273

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1236

all of this for $28.  That is not a bad deal to me and will make the C2 more useable to me.  What do you think?

Fail on all counts.. Here's new links for ya

http://www.malkoffdevices.com/shop/dropin-mod-dropins-to-fit-surefire-c-1_14.html

http://www.lighthound.com/AW-RCR123a-Protected-750-mAh-Battery_p_114.html

http://www.lighthound.com/Ultrafire-36-volt-or-3-volt-RCR123-Lithium-Battery-Charger_p_2270.html

I have nothing against DX , but I kinda like supporting the local brick and mortar shop...

The Malkoff may be overkill but they are the best. You can get much cheaper dropins and higher quality than DX... Here's an example:

That Surefire C2 deserves the best. Also, rechargeable batteries is a department you really don't want to go cheap on. Stick with the best brands, AW are the best IMHO.

Thanks for saving me from a newbie mistake.  I do want the Malkoff it is just a matter of do I need a $60 dropin.  :)  I spose with Nailbender a few days ago and he can make me something for $38 I think.  Hmm so many choices so little money.  One thing I am learning is that the host is the flashlight body so to speak, so if I like the C2 then use it and enjoy it.  Then the P60 drop in if powered by the same voltage will work the same in any host.  So you are right get a quality drop in for a quality host like the C2.

OK here is an update.  I traded the Surefire C2 for a Quark 123 X2 tactical with extras.  I am very happy with the Quark so it is a better deal for me.
