Yeah but it's a SAK with a built in light!  Who cares how crappy it is?  It's got a light.  On a SAK! :D

The case for the SwissTool X Plus Ratchet arrived. I had acquired the bits, wrenches and ratchet along with the corkscrew long ago and used the wrenches, extension and ratchet. Got The SwissTool X and thought I might put it all in one case as I did with the bike tool and a ratchet set just like this (in a Spirit case). As I understand it, the "Plus" comes with the bits and wrench snapped into the bit holder, and the "Plus Ratchet" comes with the ratchet snapped into the bit holder and the extension, but not the wrench, and both come with the corkscrew and micro driver.

It all fits: bits, wrench, extension, ratchet and corkscrew. I like the case and the Velcro closure isn't an issue with me. I've got some stuff with very old Velcro and it's held up well.

First thing I noticed is how proud it stands when worn on a belt. Much more than I'm accustomed to. Much thicker than the case the SwissTool X came with.

I'll wear this for a while just to see how it works out, but wouldn't have a problem keeping the SwissTool in its original pouch and the hex tools with corkscrew in the pouch I'd been storing them in.

Just got a couple of green Michel Jordi the other day.

A Climber and a Classic with the fancy golden button at the top of the back scale, golden keyring and golden corkscrew for the climber. NiB

Gorgeous! I'm still perplexed

Thanks! Perplexed by what?
I'm perplexed by the fact I didn't finish that sentence...
Nah, it's the light. In an age where any mobile phone has a light at least as powerful and often way more powerful than this, I wonder why they keep integrating flashlights in these knives. It's a thing of beauty and the magnifying glass is surely a good addition but these lights with button batteries still have me a bit puzzled..
Where I find the light and clock or LCD display handy is when I'm camping/hiking.
On my last camping trip, my phone ran out of juice first, so there went both my light and clock.  Then my iWatch ran out as well which made me long for the clock/LCD scales on my SAK.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Nice pouch John... looks like a new design? I’ve only seen the ones with the ratchet/wrench and bit holder stored in the back pocket and with the extension and corskcrew placed in the small compartments on the side... :like:

It's actually the old design. Found it NOS. It's obvious when you go to use it that the SwissTool goes in the back with the bits, etc. in the front. Doesn't have the small loop compartments. Here's a view of the inside.

I may try to find the newer style which is a slightly larger version of the one I'm using with a Bike Tool that's made for the smaller Spirit.

That's the current leather one. There are two current ones, a leather and a nylon. The current nylon one is like yours on the inside. You can buy a SwissTool [X] Plus or Plus Ratchet with the nylon or leather pouch.

Is it as sturdy as the grey lite frame?

Is it hard to find year marked kl's around late 70's?

Amefa DAKs from the 70's are reasonably common. How 'late' does it have to be?
79 to be exact

Not sure.  It seems up to the job of holding the batteries and LED in place, but I wouldn't like to open a paint tin with it. ;)

I haven't opened it up to see how easy it is to change the batteries yet, so I'll have a good look tonight.

Finally arrived, SAK won in ebay the past few months.

1974 Soldier
2003 Soldier
2006 Soldier
OC Electrician
Harvester

And a friend's OC Electrician and Harvester also.

I won't keep all, will sell/trade a few.

Surprisingly, it's the OC Electrician I'm attracted to the most. It's simply beautiful.

I'm impressed by how robust and snappy the 1974 is!

Thanks H - Kinda like the transparent - Always good to see how things work!
I'm sure it's just as strong - Vic would not down grade strength
- Mind you how strong does it need to be? - It sits inside the SAK day in day out and only comes out to play when you're changing batteries

- Unless you're opening the paint can of course!!   :o
