On the strength of the sale of the Steampunk Wenger, I pulled the trigger on a Alox Bantam and a My First with Saw (see where that's going?), a Pioneer Pruner (just the main and pruner blades) and a Pioneer. The last two plus the Solo I already have might be getting together and partying some time if the springs are compatible I might end up with an Alox Expolrer.

I have an Explorer and love it but I would really, really, really love an alox Explorer!

I wish it could be modded to change the scales to alox.

Man, seeing a cybertool again makes me really want one.  I've had a few but I always seem to sell them when a new want pops up.  I gotta stop doing that.  :twak:

You were not very specific.  Do you prefer a CT34 , 41 etc?

Seeing that beautiful Bavaria Spartan created a question in my mind:  on the knives with graphics printed on the scales, are the graphics on the surface or are they covered with a clear coat? In other words, can you polish those scales aggressively or do you have to leave them alone?

Prints like the Bavarian are easily rubbed off, starting with the gold lettering very quickly, and the blue will come off with regular wear.  Not all the prints use the same technology, but knives like the Bavarian and the Wenger Snife series are not significantly more robust than logo prints.  So agressive polishing it not in the cards, you just have to use them and be happy.

I get 40 mm and 220 g. One of these tries I will have to stumble upon the new Swisschamp, unless they come up with a new tool. Here it is with a Swisschamp and a XLT.

If they put a new one out today, I think your configuration would make the most sense.

However; based on the SwissChamp, CT Lite and CT-41 they may want to restrict their largerest 'non-collector' model to the 30-35mm range.  It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I'm looking for something to carry in combination with other knives so I'm thinking as a personal knife; saws, pliers, and CT only as that already makes it quite thick since I would carry it with another model as well.  It would be sort of the "Extra Tool Set", but if the "extra tools" were carried in my bag or coat, then your configuration would be excellent.

It's a printout on the Cellidor handle surface, albeit a really nice one. Similar to all other Cellidor models with imprints (and not metal inlays). This Spartan does not have any metal inlays, the logo is painted silver. It was cheap like a regular Red Spartan so no complaints. It's for display IMO, not use. Still, one can use such SAK just fine, wash it, just that I imagine the paint will eventually wear off in time. Definitely no scale polishing.

My favorite of the series is the CT34.  I have been meaning to pick one up because they provide all the tools I would need at my current job, but since our cross country move this summer we have been (more than) a bit tight.  I've been making my existing stuff work, and it's been good for me as I have been forced to really put my wave and supertinker to the test.

It will be nice to one day be back in a financial spot where I could add the occasional tool or SAK.  That and I have two or three members here that I plan to surprise with a gift one of these days, and they probably know who they are.  Might be a bit though, there might be another move coming up sooner than we wanted if the job market doesn't improve.

my latest SAK is 40 of them.

(Image removed from quote.)

I REALLY have to stop combining beer and eBay

Got my hands on these today, just spent a couple of hours going through them and seeing what I have.

20 "large" and 20 "small".
Of the large, 9 are Spartans of varying age/condition.
Three Wengers, all good tools, just pocket wear on scales.
the florist knife has the inter-flora logo logo laser etched on the blade but is obviously a working knife, been heavily sharpened.
the Fisherman has seen some salt water action in its time, but it appears that it is only the liners corroded. Can barely move any of the tools, a good long soak in WD40 for that one and perhaps even disassembly rather than trying to open stuck blades and damage something. The scales are recoverable, I can save the fish so that is a big plus.
Three "pre hook" climbers, all gummed up with pocket cooties so I was popping the scales off to throw them in the WD40 bath and... wait... that one isn't as big as the other two... OMG, OMG.. a SMALL CLIMBER.  :ahhh :ahhh  84mm scissors just fell into my lap.

There is an old Super Tinker with a 1/2 round, 1/2 square Phillips driver.
A Tinker that has been sharpened to death,
and a recruit to add to my collection.

In the "small" stuff it is mostly Classic SD's, a few Classics, Wenger represented by an Esquire and a crusader and then the  "interesting stuff...

A 7 blade Minichamp with broken tip on the main blade (gee, I wonder if I can find a replacement...)
A Signature II with ruby scales, the scissors had a broken spring, but the pen still works.
A Swiss Lite,  red LED so it may be old enough to be an Illuminator. Still working.

and that's about it..

Only other thing  (it's a bit gross) was when I opened the ziplock bag they were all in, it smelled TERRIBLE. the knives were all "AS IS", not cleaned or anything and there was 40 different people's pocket cootie smell buttoned up in there. ugg, I was glad to get them into the cleaning bath.

A Cyber Swisschamp!

I know nothing for this SAK and I can't find information on Sakwiki. Is it original os a mod? It seems a nice upgrade over the Swisschamp and reasonable too. one might think that he doesn't need the philips (and small slotted from the back) since it has the Cybertool driver. Although I still prefer the XLT because I use the Philips for my 1/4" bit adaptor and I can submerge the SAK in water (I would't do that with a LED tooled SAK), not to mention the pruner and coffee stirrer (AKA spatula).

It is a mod. If I am going to submerge a Lite in water I just take out the batteries and don't have a problem. On a 58mm though, I don't submerge those.
