Pro Scout blade exchanger...looking for blades
on: April 23, 2012, 06:36:27 AM
I recently purchased a Pro Scout and am wanting to get some jig saw blades for it. So far I've not been able to find blades with a hole for the retaining pin. I've been to Home Depot, Lowes and Ace. Where do you guys find your extra blades?

Thanks for the responses guys. I have spotted some on ebay, but I was hoping to support local business. We do have a Walmart in town, I'll go check them out.

I've never owned a Gerber with the blade exchanger, how well does it work BobG?

Gareth - I haven't used mine yet. I've carried Leathermen tools for years and only recently discovered the Gerber 600 series. I have used the saw on my Super Tool quite a bit and love it. I really wish Gerber would leave off the serrated knife blade and put a double toothed saw blade in it's place. I think the blade exchanger should work pretty well. I really do like the concept of being able to carry a variety of blades (and blade lengths) in the pouch and using the one most suited to the situation. I'm sure looking forward to finding out.

That sure is a nice selection of blades! I ended up getting a pack of blades from that popular auction site. Had to do some fitting (looks like your B&D blades fit w/o fuss) and I'm pretty happy with the result. Now I think I'll send it in cause it's got a ding in the wire cutter that makes the pliers jaws bind and make it a little difficult to use one handed. All in all, I really like this one. Wish I could talk Gerber into selling me a set of jaws with the carbide cutters so I wouldn't have to worry about getting dings in the wire cutters.

Bob I use the diamond file on the a KF4 to remove burrs wire cutter. Any of the other LM`s with a diamond file would work just as well if you have one. The MP600 in the pic I think was originally part of the Gerber Maintenance kit. I found it by it`s self on the bay and won it. I do like the replaceable carbide cutters.   :)
