Does anyone have more info about the black (oxyde?) blade? It's the only one I have ever seen! Do they have them in 91mm as well?
OMG, a stealth Bantam.  Amazing.  I really hope Victorinox decides to produce that knife.  They could either go with black Eco scales or some type of soft touch black scales (like Wenger).  Not sure what those are in the pic, but they are definitely not as shiny as the black cellidor next to them.

Here are a couple rare 84mm SAK's. Victoria Tinker with solid scales, 84mm Original Golfer and an 84mm Victoria Climber with a long nail file.

84mm Victoria Climber

And here is a 84mm exposed rivet Pocket Pal with a long nail file.

Backside files are just so much more useful than hooks.  What's with the hook Victorinox :(

Nice pics Wayne :tu:

Very nice Neil! Are those scales real turtle (according to pic.name in properties) or a substitute? I haven't seen it before, is it very rare?  :o

They show up from time to time.  Judging by the interest that was shown in this one compared to the similar PocketPal version, I'm guessing the inclusion of that file on the back makes it much rarer :)

Here's a new "glamour" shot :)    I'll try to get some more useful ones of the tools up in the shutter shop later.

I've been trying to figure it out; had the bottle opener's screwdriver been damaged at some point, or was that a Telechrome-specific tool modification upon purchasing?

I don't think its factory.  Most likely modified by the original owner, though the tool marks on it....

I just don't know and I guess we never will :D

I would think it was a personal mod too.  I wouldnt think VIC would leave an open ended nail nook on one of their tools like that.

What is with the file on the side of the phillips (see the teeth in the photo)? Has anyone seen that before?

I've heard of having one on the size of the hook on some models, but never on the phillips.

The early Phillips included a metal file.

Its actually more unusual to come across the square phillips without a file :)

I don't know if I'd say that exactly. The file is on the earlier models and I'd say in my collection I have certainly seen more without that with.  I'm too new at this though to say which one is really more prevalent.  Based on age though I'd have to lean more toward the file being a little harder to come by.

I have been buying 84mm SAKs with combo tools to rob the combo tool for mods. So i had a lot of 84mm parts left over so i started making 84mm solos. Did they ever make 84mm solos?

Mike
Are you going to sell any of your 84mm Solos?  Can you make some other custom 84mm stuff?

I agree with Neil, assuming he's talking about square Phillips w/o the can key slot.

An 84mm Bantam with the watch case opener just ended on ebay for $19.  New in box.

While not available in North America, the economy watchopener appears listed on a few sites in Europe and else where. There have been a couple sell on ebay lately as well.

Here's another 84mm, alox version (publicity: Steiger SA Vevey). Actually the first alox I've seen in this wider 84mm shape.

Very nice.  A early to mid-80's Voyageur I believe. :tu:

Considering its high value these days its funny to think that once upon a time the Voyageur was a relatively cheap model and suitable for promotional purposes.
