A work in progress
on: August 16, 2010, 10:16:08 PM
I can't keep these to myself any longer, I've been working on my first proper SAK mod for a few weeks now and having finally got all the pieces together I've now got something to post

Here's how I got the bits

Here's the spread of opened pretties

And here's my first attempt at putting it together

Each tool has a diamond like coating in a variety of metal finishes. I'm sure you can see that I've made a few mistakes, and I can assure you that there are a few you can't see either so I'll be stripping this one down soon and trying again.

Watch this space  ;)

At first I thought it was a trick of the light and was wondering why the heck you were building a Huntsman. ???  Not that it's a bad SAK (far from it in fact) but they're pretty easy to got hold of. ;)

But that's one SAK I have to see in the flesh 'cos it looks excellent.

I'm sure I'm missing something here; how is this different from a standard huntsman? The coating? What does it do?

Mostly it's pretty but it's rather hard wearing too, the gold is an actual TiNi coat the others I have to admt i'm not entirelty sure

And before anyone says so I know that sharpening it will remove the coating, so once it's done it's going to be a curiosity not a user, sorry about that Ben

Yes I had the coating done myself, it was a chance meeting at the local comic shop with some one I had know for a bit but not well,  he was showing off his house key which he had TiNi coated at work recently, so seeing an opertunity I threw the parts of a huntsman at him,  you can see the results above  ;)

All I have to do now is put it back together well enough for his company to take some photos, apparently they rather like the metaphor of a SAK with different coatings as an marketing photo  :D

Am I the only one who is thinking if it'd be possible for a KOTY to have TiNi now? :pok: :D

That is fantastic. Quite eye catching. Can't wait to see the finished product.

SOG's gold TiNi coating seems to be very resilient too wear , I would be keen to see how your tools hold up to use

WOW I just had a thought , how cool would a Gold TiNi coated PST be  8) 8) 8).
You could pretend you have a 10th Annivesary PST  8) 8) :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :D :D :D :D.

So many cool things you could do , a TiNi Micra would be nice
