Request: Squirt S4 and ES4/PS4 comparison pics
on: August 25, 2010, 05:28:16 PM
Does anyone have any pics showing the S4 and the ES4? Specifically the closed size of both and more importantly the size of the scissors on them compared.

Would be greatly appreciated :D

Amici,
I own an S4 and just ordered a PS4 with the pliers and scissors combination, so once it arrives I'll gladly post pics..

Cheers,
Serge

The S4 is the same as a Micra, scissor wise.

The PS4's scissors are more like a Victorinox Classics.

That helped, thanks! Used photoshop to adjust the size of the picture of the PS4 with scissors out to have the same relative size as the comparison picture and put the PS4 scissors over the micra scissors. Those PS4 ones really are small compared to the micro/s4, don't see how leatherman thinks the ps4 makes the s4 outdated.

Because they want you to buy a Style CS.

Probably because they are of similar size to a Victorinox Classic, one of Victorinox's most popular knives. I do not hear to many people complain about the scissors on the Classic, possibly the same for the PS4, but only time will tell. The nice thing about the PS4, you get both pliers and scissors. SlackOne is right; if you want larger scissors, get a Style CS or the venerable Micra.

Great pic, thanks!

eBay has plenty of S4s, so I already have one on the way. The problem with the PS4 isn't just the size of the scissors, but also the tools they removed to fit them in. I love my P4 but with scissors it will be perfect, so I was just curious how the PS4 scissors looked in comparison, and seeing now how small they are I want to slap leatherman.

On a related note, has anyone ever considered making a pocket knife out of a P4/S4/PS4/whatever? From looking at my P4, it seems that two of the tools - the small screwdriver and awl - don't really need as much space (depth wise) as they have. The same goes for the file; the deeper the better, but it could work if it was a bit narrower. My point with this is that if you removed the scissors/pliers on a Squirt, you'd have room for two layers of narrow tools in the handle. Placing modified file, awl and screwdriver in there would result in a pocket knife that is smaller than the classic (guessing same volume as the classic alox) but that would have a blade, file, phillips head, two flat heads, a bottle opener and an awl. Much more useful than the crap that is the Style
