iTP A3 EOS that won't turn on
on: September 22, 2010, 04:46:02 PM
Here's a red iTP A3 EOS that won't turn on. Actually, the head works fine (I tried it with the body from my purple A3, I edc it everyday and it's just perfect) but for some reason it won't work with its original body. Since it's made of just three parts, it's quite hard to find and fix the problem.

Here's a (awful) picture, maybe somebody knows what's wrong. I thought it could be the spring, but it seems fine to me.

What do you think?

Sounds like a contact problem try cleaning the end of the battery tube as this needs good contact with the head  :tu:

Thanks John, I just did it (and I'm doing it again, right now), but it still doesn't turn on. :(

The funny thing is that if I compare the red one to my purple one, they look the same. I haven't of course removed the spring from mine, but the flashlights are (or, at least, look) absolutely identical.

I'm also trying to take better pictures of the tube, to give you guys a better idea of what's going on in there.

What does the outer ring in the head look like is it dirty?

I gave up on mine as it was flickering and not working randomly. Seems like a low quality product

It's clean, I've checked the o-ring as well and it's ok.
Meanwhile, I'm taking pics of the tube. But it's hard: my camera isn't the best and this flashlight is so tiny...

Oh, yes, I did. It doesn't work. So the problem is in the red tube, at least we know this.

PS Thanks for the help.

My only other thought is that the spring isn't making a good connection with the bottom of the tube, perhaps it's sitting on an anodised area?

John, you are right. :tu:

The tip of the spring (who knows why) had been depressed to the point it didn't touch the battery.

It works, now. :)

I have a new iTP now, thanks to you guys.

It actually is, this light has been given to me "...because it's broken".
Oh yeah. :D

Nice going gents :tu:

I have a couple of these (one for when one of my boys "borrows" it) and its my favourite pocket carry torch to date. Glad to say no issues with either and they get a lot of use.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

They're good lights and most problems are just down to contact easily remedied  ;)

I can confirm what you guys said: it is - in my opinion - the best edc flashlight I've found.

So far, of course. ;)
