When buttery smooth threads bite back.
on: September 03, 2010, 07:27:16 AM
Yesterday when I got home from the tattoo shop, I did my usual dumping of the key's and stuff, when I noticed that I was carrying a spare eneloop

Upon further investigation I discovered that the head on my Quark Mini AA had decided to make a bid for freedom again >:(

Alas I've lost faith in using it as a keyring torch, and have gone back to using my bulletproof E01 instead, which is a shame as I bloody love the Quark, and have now got to find a new method of carry for it :-\

Plumber tape to the rescue!  :D

Wrap some on the thread and it won't fall off again, thou it'll make it a bit harder to twist too.

You can say that again. Been my set up for a while now.  My other lights don't even get a look in.

Plumbers tape or different O-ring will sort that out no prob.
I'm back!!

Yeah, I would try a new o-ring first.  Usually 4Sevens ships an extra with the light.  If you have the extra, put it on there and don't lube it.

Getting it off your keys an onto a dangler may not be as convenient, but it shouldn't have nearly as much opportunity to unscrew since it won't be handled as much.

Kinda late in the game here but black fingernail polish works like Loc Tight. A buddy of mine uses it for the small screws on the bottom of lap tops.

That's a PITA  >:(

I hope whichever solution you try works for you  :tu:

I prefer clickies as I'm less worried about them doing stupid stuff like that.

Well I cleaned most of the lube of, and swapped the O rings over, and all seems to be fine now :)

I haven't used it for keyring carry for a while though, as I've been really enjoying carrying my E01 instead :)

IMO, you have a lot more to worry about going wrong with clickies than twisties.
