Here is an example for an old Profi knife from 1966. As you can see the old ones in the 60s and 70s had just plastic scales. I`m not sure when Wenger changed to the more solid scales.
Maybe, or 1980/1981 was the time when they changed the design. I think a knife with a 81-stamp was the oldest one with the new design I`ve seen so far. And your 80-stamp knife is so far the youngest one with the old design I`ve heard of.
Benner has (had?) a couple of these at one of the meet-ups last year. I seem to remember that they were roughly equivalent to the Vic Pioneer range i.e. using the bigger tools found on the 93mm Soldier. Very nice anyway Dan.
Good combined, but.... I've a new design with 79 stamp.
Colo,Do you know if anyone on the boards has the ear of Wenger? I have an idea (which might be kinda silly). A red alox Handwerker for the MTO folks would be amazing! See if a run could be produced before the business model changes, if it isn't too late!
Did Wenger ever do an SIish alox model with some of the extra tools in the Professional Line. A "Harvester" with a hollow rivet would be cherry....
