Rotokid normally has a selection of suitable beads.  If you don't see anything you fancy send him a message as he often has extra stuff not in the store.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Thank you.  It was fun to make.

I've been looking for beads for a while.  I had some idea of what I wanted, but I couldn't find it anywhere.  I wanted something cylindrical in metal or wood.  No skull designs.  Most of what you find online for lanyard beads is in the skull design.

I sent my wife to the local craft store to see what she could find - nothing met the requirement.  She did report, however, a bead product for more "masculine" applications which resembled stock hardware washers and nuts.  This got me thinking about what I might find at a hardware store... ???

Quick trip to the store and aha!  Just what I was looking for.

This particular product is a steel spacer, 1/4 x 3/8 x 1/2 inch.  Manufacturer is Hillman.  I believe this is the one: http://wedo.hillmangroup.com/item/products-19/steel-spacers-1-4-5-16-3-8-/59358-a?&bc=100|2375|3763|3701|3720|3387.  Local cost to me was $.90 each.

My guess is that you should be able to find something similar at any well-stocked hardware store.
